I try and write these prompts with broad themes/concepts in mind and think that personal interpretation is key. You can certainly approach a prompt literally, or I encourage you to think about it in a different way ... take a creative approach on ways to apply prompts so that they'll work for your family. Here's a bit of extra information on a few of this month's challenges to help you get started :

#3: Scrap with any solo product from an August Featured Designer...
Scrap with any product that's by either Jenn, Janet or Kelly.

#4: Scraplift - Bingo Challenge Thread...
Easy Peasy... just scraplift a page from the person who holds the spot above you in the August Bingo Challenge Thread. Example: #8 will scraplift a page from the gallery of the person holding the #7 spot, and so on. If you happen to be the first person to post - ie: #2, then you'll scraplift the last person to post in the July Bingo Challenge Thread.

#10: Photography Challenge - Favorite Photo App...
Treat the photo(s) on your layout with your favorite photo app(s).
And don't forget to hook us up with what you used! Ya know, just in case another player *needs* to add it to their own app arsenal ♥

#12: Bladog Font...
Click on the image below to download the font and then use it on your page.

#18: Pay it Forward - Leave Love on 15 Gallery Pages...
You leave love on 15 layouts in the gallery and then post the link to each in your tracker thread.
Use the place marker below to "hold" that spot on your card ♥
First - click on the image below ... then, once you're redirected, right click the image that appears and save it as a .png file.

#24: Participate in the SSD Blog Scraplift posted on August 5th...
On the first Sunday of each month, Sugarbabe Kim B. hosts a Scraplift challenge on the SSD Blog.
You have the entire month to play along and complete your page.

I don’t own any photo apps. Anything else I could do? Or do I have to Down load one for this challenge?

Oh and can you show an example of a pinstripe background? I know stripe but not pinstripe.

Uh.. Houston we have a problem. I don't use alphas and since I have limited space on my device I don't download any alphas. I'm almost certain my purchase downloads have expired..... How can I go about with that one now

You can turn a font into an alpha. Type your word then add an outside stroke to it, and a drop shadow. I usually separate the text and stroke into separate layers, then add a drop shadow to the stroke layer. Does that make sense? Then you can use any font you like for your title.

For example, on this layout I used a font for the word 'favourite'. Added an outside stroke and a dropshadow.

On this one (after separating the stroke and text layers) I added a small dropshadow to the text, and another dropshadow to the white outer stroke.

Alternately, if you don't have the ability to do a stroke, type each letter of your title on a separate layer. Using a chunky font would probably look best. Rotate/angle each letter so it looks a little crooked, then add a drop shadow.

Can I just edit using RadLab, Lightroom or something specific to my scrapping program?

In case anyone recommends snapchat, it's forbidden in the house.

I had to google, if I had to guess, I'd say it's primarily black with a white thin stripe (think Jack Skellington)

Here's what came up when I googled "pinstripe"

That is very specific! Reminds me of Beetlejuice.

Any kits you can think of that have that pinstripe?

I cannot find one paper in any of my ssd kits that have a pin stripe. Hmmm I'm stumped on this one.

I guess it all depends on your own interpretation of pinstripe. Remember we do allow for artistic licence. I'd consider this red & gold paper from Flerg's Adventure: Magic to be pinstripe. Any coloured background with a thin stripe would be acceptable. You could probably make your own too.

Actually, these academic papers on the left would work too. Rotate so they run vertical and you have a pinstripe.

The black paper in the centre here is like a modern pinstripe:

There's 2 pinstripes in this one:

And if you're thinking creatively, there are white pinstripes running through these beautiful plaid papers:

Lastly, the coloured striped paper just above the title banner, has thin white pinstripes between each colour.

Hope that helps.

If you don't use photo apps, you could use a photoshop or lightroom type action that alters your photo. It will need to be an obvious difference though. E.g. Use a sepia, retro or instagram action.

Default Pinstripes

I think a pinstripe is just a narrow stripe. You can have a pinstripe in fabric or on a car.

In my collection, I found a few that I felt met my idea of a pinstripe:

Traci Reed, A Star is Born: a blue page with white double pinstripes vertically

K. Cronin-Barrow & Wendy P, Currently Reading: There is a peachy/pink paper with dotted white pinstripes

Digital Scrapbook Ingredients, Day At The Zoo: Tan and ivory stripe with light brown pinstripes.

There are some pinstripes in Mr. Awesome, too.

I think Jacinda has done a fantastic job of answering everyone's questions... and am just chiming in with a few other tips.

#14: Mixing Two Alphas:
Clipping paper to a font is a fantastic way to create your own alpha and think Jacinda has done a wonderful job of explaining it in her post above. She also has written a terrific tutorial on how to turn a font into a 3D accent that beautifully mimics an alpha ... Found Here

#10: Favorite Photo App...
The idea behind this one is really just to encourage us to experiment more with photo editing... you can achieve some really great effects using your scrapping software or an app. Whether it's just changing a photo from color to black/white or going one step beyond and using a fun filter that changes a photo into a watercolor painting. If you don't happen to use any photo apps on your phone, please take a stroll through our Photo Editing tutorial section for some great alternative tips and ideas.

#13: Pinstripe Background...
Pinstripes are just skinny stripes... like those you see on men's suits and painted daintily on cars. All of the examples Jacinda and Rachel have shown above are spot on.
Here are a few more examples of papers using skinny stripes [pinstripes]...

this paper's stripe is a little fatter ... but would work great in a pinch!

I hope these additional ideas help.

ok perfect! In my head a pinstripe was a line made of dash like that "-----------"
but it's going to be easier to just find a thin stripe! Thank you all

Thank you guys for the help, especially with the editing!!

I also like the clarification on the pinstripe--so much easier that finding black and white jack skellington pattern!

Hi, pretty new here. I'm trying to do as much as i can for this bingo challenge. Its really helping motivate me! I was wondering though, are there any more explanations of the blocks, for instance "winding down" what does that mean?
Is it just left up to my interpretation?
and, if my layout meets more than one categories csn i use it for both blocks? ie. diamonds and pinstripe?

Thanks for helping out

Welcome, Cori!! I'm so glad you are playing Bingo with us!!

Every layout that you make, can only be used for one bingo block. You can't double-dip your layouts for multiple blocks.

Winding Down - I'd say that's something you would do after a long day, or a long vacation...how do you wind down from your day/vacation?

As far as more direction, this one took me a LONG time to grasp because I'm so literal. Every block is open to interpretation. It's how you interpret the bingo prompt. I mean you obviously can't do something that has nothing to do with the prompt, but if you can justify the layout for the prompt, I don't think they'll cry foul. And as always, this thread is for those questions--if you get stuck. Another thing that helps is checking "Bingo with the Babes" threads in the Bingo forum. You can always go look at what others used/did for that bingo prompt.

Yep, Wendy's right. It's YOUR interpretation of 'winding down'. When I think of winding down, I think of:

What do I do at the end of the day? What's my own winding down routine?

Is it the end of the school term/year? What are your kids doing now school (or holidays) are winding down?

End of an Era.

The clock is ticking. Something is nearly over.

Sunset/end of the day.

Kid calming down/getting over a tantrum.

etc

I thought it was like army reserve weekend warrior but I made a calendar because I can't find kits that I like to go with my Dads National Guard photos.

From others I've seen they did weekend photos of family

Yup, I took the direction as something that our family did during the weekend.

I had a hard time with that one. I did one with my kids dressed as firefighters and inside a real firetruck. They seem like fire warriors to me.

#9: Weekend Warriors...
I honestly didn't intend to stump anyone... and am sorry if this prompt led to any confusion. For my family this term is used for the big projects that we tackle/accomplish together... like yard work [mowing the lawn, tree/shrub trimming, gardening], washing the car, cleaning out the gutters, blowing/sweeping off the porches and driveway, working on the boys fort, blueberry picking, installing a new swing, painting/staining the deck chairs... but it could also simply be a fun activity that you did together as a group/family... house hold chores, hiking, boating, river rafting, tree climbing, nature walks... This was just meant to be a prompt to help capture something you and your family did together as a group effort.
Does that help?

I think that's just a quote to go with any music themed page. Maybe scrap about a particular song/album that brings back strong memories of a certain time/event/era. e.g. graduation, wedding, proposal, first date, child's performance etc.

Welp I was way off. Haha. Should I redo mine ? I did a calender

I don't but as usually an exclusive template user I went for it and i actually did it lol. Maybe try giving it a go first since it's pretty basic in shapes? Or save the layout bring to photoshop and make shapes over the shapes on it as a sort of basic template for yourself?

What you did will be just fine! Honestly, I create these prompts simply to act as jumping off points to help you get your memories preserved. If that's how you interpreted the prompt, then no worries whatsoever ♥ In the end, the challenges are only meant to try and give you ideas for some different or alternate ways to scrap your lives. I like to think of the prompts as "guidlines" rather than a hard set of rules. They're your memories, and all of your pages should reflect that
