Default The Muppets

Ok, so I don't usually start these thread, but I feel compelled to.

We just got back from seeing The Muppets and I have to tell you, it was fantastic. As someone who grew up watching The Muppet Show, it was like reliving a small part of my childhood, while my own children were introduced to characters that I know and love. If you were a fan of the Muppets growing up, than you need to see this movie. I was impressed by how well they treated the overall "feel" of the movie, making it match up with the "feel" of the show and the other movies.

Now, I know there are people who don't want to see the movie, don't care about the movie, or think it's a waste of time and that's ok. I just wanted to start this thread to let those people who are interested in seeing the movie or have loved the Muppets as children know that the movie is truly excellent.

Please carry on with your day.

Thanks for the review, Aaron! Andrew's trying to convince me to give the boys the day off so we can go see it. I might just do that now!

This movie is most definitely on our list. I love the muppets as does my husband. I can't wait for my kids to see it too!

Is it appropriate for a 4 year old?

I am super excited to bring my family to see it. We have a few seasons of the show on DVD, so my kids are a fan of the characters.

Alisa there was absolutely nothing questionable in the movie. Everything was done in the "kid friendly" way that makes it good for everyone to see.

Yay for convincing!! It was so good, that I would say that a grown man who really loved the Muppets growing up might just tear up a bit during the movie. But I'm not totally sure...I mean I guess it could happen.

Thanks for the review!! I really want to see it... One of the Muppet Movies - I think the second one, was the first movie I saw in the theater... and I want this muppet movie to be J's first one in a theater, too!!

Maybe there will be a muppet inspired kit coming????

We've been watching the original series on DVD from Netflix for a couple months now. I think my mom is going to take the boys to see it Friday night while DH & I go out for our anniversary dinner

I was just telling hubby that we need to take the kids to this over the weekend. We also have a bunch of DVDs of the old Muppet Show and the older movies as well. So my kids are familiar with the characters. I know they'll love it, and it's good to hear that we adults will love it too.

We were going to see it today and have been waiting and waiting to go, but we got hit with a snowstorm and stayed in Plus work was way busy today so we just stayed home - I worked while Cheyanne shoveled us out - LOL

Anyway, I loved the show growing up - I wasn't a young kid but actually a teen, but I still loved it. My younger sister always watched it and my DAD loved that show! He hasn't been inside a movie theater in probably 30 years but wants to go see this one. He and my mom are going with my sister and her kids this weekend. Cheyanne and I plan to get out to see it tomorrow afternoon when I'm done working and she gets back from her uncle's for Thanksgiving dinner.

I just got back from seeing it too. If you are a Muppet fan you will like it. Off to Amazon to buy the soundtrack. (Yes, it's that good).

I soooo want to see this movie, and Rachel has no interest in it...has flat-out said no, she doesn't want to see it. Guess I might have to go by myself!

ok bringing up an old thread but we finally got to see it now that it is on dvd.. <3 <3 <3 omgosh why can't all the movies that they make based on older cartoons/shows be like this. the nostalgia and even the cinematography really impressed me. soooo cute!

At first I wasn't sure i wanted to watch it - after seeing movies like "yogi bear" etc I was so scared they were going to just ruin the muppets.

So is it worth buying? I was going to redbox it this weekend, but would a 9 year old want to see it more than once?

I guess the one thing to keep in mind is the movie isn't like the Muppet show, so if that's what your expecting, you will be disappointed. It's more like a movie about the Muppet show. I definitely think it's geared toward the adult generation that watched the Muppets as children. We took our boys (5 and 7) and of course they didn't get any of the references. There is definitely the potential for kids to find it boring.

I will say, I can't get that song out of my head!!! "Am I a Man ......."

Julie, if it helps, my 9 year old (and the 12 year old, too) are begging us to buy the movie. We saw it in theaters months ago and they still talk about it. They both want it loaded on their iPods, lol!

I can't wait to see this. I've always been a big fan of the Muppets. Their version of A Christmas Carol is still my favorite.

I loved it in the theater, watched it again here at the Embassy for a showing (kids night), and will buy for a birthday present later. I grew up with the muppets and my boys have watched the first 3 seasons on DVD with me. They may not get some of the references, but they still get the slapstick humor!

To me this Muppet movie was quite different from the others. I was surprised at how much singing there was.

We actually went and bought it on Tuesday (at my urging, LOL). The girls are super excited to watch it again, as they already are professing a love for it. My youngest is especially enamored with Miss Piggy, while my oldest likes Camilla the Chicken

J just got it for his 9th birthday yesterday, and we will be watching it tonight for movie night! We all enjoyed it the first time around. (Much less risque than the original MS if you ask me. I was hoping for MORE adult humor. I watch the old ones now and laugh out loud at all of the adult humor.)
