Default If You're Having Problems With Your Downloads...

Hey guys,

It looks like we're having issues with downloads that are pretty widespread. I'm pretty sure it has to do with a setting that was changed yesterday to make the site run better because it isn't every file in people's orders and it isnt the same files that are giving people problems either.

I'm not having any problems downloading from people's keys, so this is really frustrating, but when I have 50+ emails from people all reporting the same thing - it's a problem, so we're working on trying to figure it out.

In the meantime, here are some tips that may help you get your files...

Switch Browsers - I'm using Safari and have had no problems. I know quite a few customers who were using Internet Explorer, switched to Firefox and that solved the issue. Give it a try.

Click ONE link at a time and watch it's progress - I'm thinking our settings may not like so many connections at once - so see if if clicking one link at a time helps.

Keep trying - Try 1 may be corrupt / unzippable. Delete the file and try again. Try 2 may do the same thing. Try 3 may come down just fine.

I know this is frustrating - it's super frustrating for me too and making me crazy tbh especially since I cant duplicate it on my end - but hopefully together, we can find a fix!

Also, if you find something that works, come share it with us. If you didn't have any problems with your downloads from yesterday - would you mind telling me what browser you use and any other details you think might be helpful?

Thanks chicklets!!
Robin

Robin, So sorry that you have had to deal with this! What a headache for you and your team!

I had these issues when trying to download last night. It went much better when I downloaded one file at a time. When I went to extract the file, if the file icon showed up, then all was good, if not, then there was a problem.

Also, checking if the download had the amount of MB that it was supposed to. If not, then the file was probably not good and would need to be downloaded. The size would vary between a few 100 kb to almost the full specified file size

Good luck. I hope it is smooth sailing for the rest of the sale!

No really, I'm so sorry YOU guys are having to deal with this (and all of the glitches we've had the last few weeks). It's making me nutty and is not up to my expectations of the experience you should be having here at SSD. We're working really hard to get things back to normal, so I appreciate your patience and understanding (and help in this case) soooo much!!

Thank YOU!
Robin

Thanks for the update Robin. I was having problems with everything too. But I figured I would just wait until after the crazy shopping weekend to download. Thanks for all your hard work !

I had it happen, which was so funny because it happened on alpha files and a date pack! It was like it didn't want to me to have alphas! I deleted redownloaded and I am good to go. It is cataloged and uploaded into Picasa!

{{Robin}}

I just downloaded my order from yesterday (just finished unzipping and organizing and backing up). If I had known you were having issues...I would have waited until the weekday to try it.

Anyway...I use firefox. I downloaded the first 2 links and they were corrupt. ...all the rest downloaded fine...I deleted first 2 links and retried and all is well and good.

Maybe they are downloading too many files at once? ...when I downloaded the first 2...I also stuck another 3 files at the same time...so that might have done that to them. When I slowed down a bit...all worked fine...

Hope everything straightens itself out...I have sooooooooooooo many goodies to play with...gotta get through robotics next week and then I am good to play! lol

I'm using google chrome as my browser and downloading 1 file at a time. I'm unzipping and checking that file as soon as it downloads so I can re-download if needed. Slow process but it's working. I had a few that had to be downloaded twice, and one that I had to do 3 times. I'm all done thankfully!

I am having some general site issues today though. Pages not loading and such. I'm guessing it's just high traffic since we've still got a great sale going on, but I wanted to mention it just in case.

I was able to download my items yesterday just fine, they were element packs so smaller files though. I use Firefox and unzip with 7-Zip.

Robin, I got a kit in the early evening last night, downloaded with Firefox. It was in 5 pieces, I did the first 4 at once, then the last one, and had no trouble with any of them. They all came through on the first try just fine.

I actually haven't had one single problem getting into the store, forum or gallery.

Thanks Jamie - I'm not having ANY problems with anything either which is why this is frustrating for me. It's too widespread to ignore, but also not something I'm experiencing, so I dont know where to look or how to explain it. Jason is with his family today, but hopefully we'll hunt it down and figure it out soon.

I tried downloading yesterday, and about every file over 20 mgs went corrupt.

I tired this morning and it was the same thing.

I'm using Mozila. This is the first time that I have this problem, so I though it was because of the sale. I'll go try again.

I use Firefox and have had no problems DLing 2 of the 4 kits (haven't tried the other 2 yet). I DL one at a time. Previously, if I've had a corrupt file or something, I have to clear it from my DL history, then delete it off my computer (including the recycle bin) or else it will keep DLing corruptly.

Thanks Robin, for all you do to make SSD so awesome!

ok, this is weird. It's not working with my stable Firefox, but it works with my ultra-buggy Internet Explorer.

I use firefox and all my downloads are working so far, expect the kit in the Oh Baby issue of Simply Sweet that I bought. The issue downloaded fine, but when I download the kit, it says the file is corrupted. I've deleted it and re-downloaded 3 times. Weird!

I have trouble too - used IE, FF and Google Chrome.
I noticed that the download starts super fast (around 102kb/sec when I usually download at a rate of 25kb/sec ever since) and then it just stops - with only around 5-7MB downloaded.

Would it matter if my ISP is outside the US?

Robin, I am using Firefox, I downloaded Kristin's collection yesterday (Sat) morning. I just unzipped today and 2 of the files were corrupt and the rest were fine. Just downloaded the 2 corrupted ones again now and it worked fine.
Not sure if that helps or not

Internet Explorer is not working anymore for me. Right now, I can't go really help by going on Messenger, because I have to go put the little ones to sleep, then I have to work (I work from home) .

I did have a problem earlier today with one of my files (Traci's Paintity Doo Dah Alpha), but it was fine on try #3. My other files downloaded without a problem!

What a nightmare for you though Robin!!! It didn't bother me in the least that I had to wait to download, but it must be so much work behind the scenes right now! Thanks for all you do!!!

I'm hit or miss on some of them... usually by the third try though I've got it except just now... one of the zips for John Dough, I've tried 5 times and every time corrupt... now I can't download using the link because it says I've used my 5 clicks. I'm gwood818 on YIM if you want to chat with me.

I'm using Firefox, although I haven't tried any other browser yet.

Hey girls - those of you having problems - does it make a difference if you download direct from your order history in the shoppe vs. the download keys that were sent to you?

Let me know!

I have been having the same problems! I use Internet Explorer and Windows XP. I had multiple files not download correctly, some of which were parts of a bigger set (like AP or EP). I always download individually. I tried downloading them to another site on my computer (other than the file I usually download to), I emptied and then later shredded my recycle bin (attepted redownloading in between), then I ran CCleaner before trying to redownload again, but these files downloaded super fast and were empty when I attempted to unzip them (except one that only had one item in it). I went into Internet Options and deleted everything and tried again, still nothing. I also tried going into my account at the store and downloading from there but I didn't see a way to do that after looking around some. So, after talking to Robin (& having my codes reset! LOL!) and reading this thread I went and installed Google Chrome. THIS WORKED!!! (BTW Google Chrome lets you download more than 1 file at a time!) I had 2 files that downloaded correctly and had the correct number of KB but did not extract when I unzipped them, so I deleted them and emptied my browser again and re-downloaded those 2 files (1 at a time, LOL!) and it worked!!!!! YAY!!! I use Extract Now to open multiple ZIPs at once - this is an awesome free program if you don't have it already! Anyway, just wanted to give an update and hopefully help someone else out! Have a great day (night?)!
