Default Help me!!

On Thursday night I went to a fun girls night out with some friends. It was wonderful. I was talking, scrapbooking and enjoying myself...and then I got the text message. You know, the one I usually send my husband, but this time it was sent to me. The dreaded, "You are not going to believe what YOUR daughter just did!" He was right! She had gotten her little hands into a full container of Vaseline and rubbed it all over her face and IN HER HAIR! (and the TV and TV stand as we just found a couple of hours ago...) While it may not have been on every strand of her hair, after multiple washings, it now is! Help me!! I can't get it out...even a little bit!

Here she is dancing around, as happy as a lark, with her "lotion" in her hair. (Yay for training the hubby to take pictures! )

See the shine?! Well, today it just looks disgusting and like she is one big grease ball:

Oh, I should also mention that she hates having her hair washed, so getting her hair washed six times over the course of three baths today is torturous for her. Sigh...why couldn't it have just been gum?!

Anyone have any ideas??? PLEASE???

I'm sorry I had to giggle at the text message, I send the same ones to OH all the time 'guess what YOUR SON has just done' LOL.

I've just googled it and found it's the hardest thing to remove but this might help? http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Vaseline-out-of-Your-Hair

Oh my! LOL - Cheyanne did something similar with baby oil when she was little. Her aunt who is a hair stylist said Dawn dish detergent. It worked pretty well in one washing but where Vaseline is thicker it might take a couple times. Good luck!

We tried Dawn dish soap and it made no difference at all. We also tried baking soda mixed with shampoo for very little difference too. I'll have to try the corn starch. It's still decently sticky, but it's dryying out and hardening too...if that makes since. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Natalie, my niece did this once too. I just sent a text to my sis to ask her what they did to get it out. I'll let you know when I hear back.

Sounds like you have a wild one there. Cute. But wild.

I do. My sister did that when she was little. Get some corn starch and put it in her hair. Let it sit for a bit and then wash it. If you don't have corn starch you could try flour.

My sister just said you could also try baby powder, which would at least smell good. Lol. She said that it took about five days before you couldn't tell that the Vaseline was in her hair. She washed it multiple times the first day and then just washed it once a day for thd next few days. Lol. She said it seemed like her hair attracted dust and that the dust seemed to help. Gross. I'm sure that's why the suggestions for flour/corn starch/baby powder are out there. Good luck!

You probably need some kind of heavy duty degreaser (but still safe). Something like this: http://goophandcleaner.com/

When I have to put baby oil on a baby's head (for cradle cap), I will sometimes use baby powder to suck it back off again... HTH!

Her hair is drying from the latest bath. I tried letting Mayo sit on it and then washed it with Dawn dish soap again. It's still drying but it looks hopeful.

It just kills me that this happened Easter weekend. All the pictures this is going to be in! This will never be forgotten now. haha

Oh and thanks for the advice. I'll try corn starch next but it's already pretty hardened.

A few new suggestions: heat up the hair with a blow dryer first. Then rub the hair with a dry towel. Saturate hair with baby oil and rub it all through the hair, rub vigorously. Then wash with Dawn liquid detergent 2 times. Hopefully that will work for you!!!!!!
