Default I need a vacation..

I can't really afford to like. .go far off and do what I want LOL.. but I'm thinking maybe in the next month or so.. nugget and I can drive off somewhere .. stay at a hotel.. from like a friday - monday type deal. somewhere near a beach.. somewhere nice. I have no idea WHERE of course LOL. I have to fix my car first and foremost (just a minor oil leak.. but lots o smoke). I dunno where we'd go.. somewhere within reasonable driving range I guess- we could leave on thursday and check in to the hotel on friday if need be (though that would basically eat friday cause I'd need a serious nap LOL). I live in RI.. I'd like to keep it like.. no more than 7 hrs, I don't even know where that lands me. I remember williamsburg virginia is about 10 hrs from here as a point of reference.. so something a bit closer to me... and the being on the coast is a requirement LOL not like touristy beachy- but nice and pretty beachy- it can be cold.. I have no intention of actually getting in the water as it's only may Any suggestions?

No idea, but if you do it around the time we head to Baltimore to pick up my car we should meet up. I think that'll probably be in late June, Early July.

I have never been to New England, so I would just head straight to the closest beach from where you live.

lol the beach is only 40 minutes away.. I want to goooooooooooooooooooooooooo far lol.

Shawna suggested DC- I've never been, which is embarrassing.. I'm thinking about it. I might ask my brother to tag along if I go that route (you know.. I have issues with trains and public transportation etc.. LOL it'd be nice to have someone with me jic haha)...

That's pretty much the range btw.. DC to like.. Canada. LOL..I sat here trying to figure out where 7 hrs would take me in either direction lol.

DC is a lot of fun, but you would need to do it before it gets hot and crowded! Taking your brother along would be a great idea too!!

Since I don't know much else on the east coast...i'll have to leave it at that!

Have fun!

So I have been to DC many many times!!! I love it, if you go make sure you hit Arlington Cemetary it's just really a great experiance! What about Virginia beach I hear its nice though I have never been. I have also been to Willamsburg and it was fun but not nearly as great as DC is. Whatever you decide I am sure you will have an awesome time!

Go to Maine, York Beach or Ogunquit are my favorite and although kind of touristy they will not be crowded in Maine. I'd say maybe 2-3 hours from you as it's an hour and fifteen for me. Or you could go up to Bar Harbor for some real sites.

I'd love to go to DC or to Maryland but no vacation time this year. Oh and Block Island is supposed to be very nice too.

There is:
Cooper's Beach in Southampton, NY (or there are other beaches in NY: Hamptons and Montauk)
Coast Guard Beach in Cape Cod, MA
Avalon Beach or Avon by the Sea in New Jersey
or what about a trip to Lake Erie?
or Cedar Point Beach in Sandusky, OH (or some of the other beaches in OH: East Harbor, Geneva State, Maumee Bay, Lake Erie Islands State Park, etc.)

How long would it take to drive and err...... swim to England? You could dip your toes in the North Sea and get friendly with the good ole British weather

Come to Maine. Not kidding. It's a 3.5 hour drive from our house to Beantown, and if you don't mind a humble home to stay at you wouldn't even need to find a hotel. We live right on the water (river), but are driving distance to lots of coastal places...like sand beaches & rocky coastline.

If it's something you & the kiddo would be interested in, you know where to find me

How about Assateague Island National Seashore? I've wanted to take my kids for about 3 years now but we've always had a "baby" and with the new one coming along it still might be 2 year beofre we get to go!!!

Yeah, isn't the Zoo in DC free? I vote DC. I've never been, but I've only been to where you have in New England, so I'm no help. (New Hampshire, Boston, Salem, NYC)
