What is a PTL file?
I don't know why this has happened to me, but a few (not many) of my kits that I have purchased in the past have a few or all of the alpha and/or embellishments as a PTL file and I am not able to view it in my photo gallery or even open it in Photoshop. Is there something else that I can do? I didn't have this problem when I purchased these kits, so I must have done something.

What program do you use? When I did a quick search, is seems like this happens when people use Corel products, such as Paint Shop Pro. I haven't had this happen to me, so I'm not sure, but what happens if you change the file extension to .png? (resave xxx.ptl to xxx.png)

I have PSE 10. It says underneath that it is a png, but it is a ptl type file. I don't understand how to change it, but I will see what I can do. I will check back here later. Thanks.

I use PSPx2 and have no option to save anything as a PTL file, so I'm not sure what it is.

I googled, and the shortest answer I found was that it means "path too long." It was suggested to move it so that the path to get to it is not so long (ie it might be buried inside a folder in a folder in a folder in another folder - take it out of all those subfolders and just put it in the main folder). You could also try renaming it (ie instead of lpritchett-happyday-artsy-paper2.jpg, you could name it lp-happy-p2.jpg or even just p2.jpg if you are keeping the whole kit together - just so you don't have to search for credits)
I've never experienced this first-hand, so my suggestions are just based on what google says. |

try unzipping it to your desktop first then moving it to your scrappy folder stuff The path with windows is probably too long since I think it only reads so many (thinking 100?) characters. Are the ones that have that file long kit names?

it has to do with how the files were unzipped. did you unzip the folder first and then pull everything out or did you go into the unzipped folder and pull everything out? whichever you did, do the opposite and it should work.

If you can't recover them, check whether you still have the download emails. I've been able to re-download kits from them for quite a while after the original download.

Ok, Thanks! I went back and recovered more than I thought I would. I will try to get what's left of my incomplete kits tomorrow. Thanks so much for your help!
