Default Anyone been to Vegas recently?

My niece is turning 21 in April and a bunch of us are flying her to Vegas for the weekend to celebrate. I haven't been to Vegas in probably 18ish years so I'm sure there is a lot more to do since I was there last. We are staying at the New York New York hotel.

We have ziplining over Fremont street on our list. Also, she has mentioned going to Top Golf (which I think she is doing that for her uncles, not for herself..lol).

Anything else? Any cool shows you've seen that a 21 year old would enjoy?

I've never been to Vegas, so I'm no help at all. But it's a dream of mine to see Cirque Du Soleil's show "O" at the Bellagio.

I was looking into the Cirque Du Soleil shows and while they look really cool, I just don't know that all of us going would enjoy it...especially the guys. I will put it on my list though.

I've never liked any circus at all, but I've seen a couple of Cirque Du Soleil shows and they are all so spectacular. I think "O" is special because it has everything to do with water. But I agree, not everyone might enjoy it.

I’m from Vegas, but I’m not up to date on the touristy stuff. People who are from Vegas rarely go to the strip lol!

We went at the end of September. We did the Medieval Times show at Excalibur and it was a lot of fun. We didn't do any shows beyond that, though checking out the gardens at Bellagio is always gorgeous!

Sara (misfitinmn) just went I know!

Britney! Though I don't know if the guys would like it lol

I've never heard of a bad Cirque Du Soleil show. I've heard KA is amazing. They have a Michael Jackson one.

Blue Man Group, Celine Dion, Terry Fator, Jerry Seinfeld will all be there in April too (from what I've seen).

There's always the Bellagio and Caesar Forums. I'll add if I think of anything else.

Oh! Sara did go & she went to the old sign cemetery. It looked so fun!

Hubs and I went in Oct 2016. We did quite a bit. I'll see if I can remember all the names...lol.

As far as extras we had to pay for, we did:

The Mandalay Bay Shark Reef/Aquarium: cool but we've been to tons of aquariums around the country just as good/better so I could have passed on this one.

The Eiffel Tower Experience: It was a nice view that was less obstructed than the High Roller (open air grates vs. glass). If you buy the American Casino Guide there's a Buy1Get1 coupon for this (among other coupons you might use). They ended up giving us a free pass for my active duty hubs so we gave our coupon to another couple. We were happy, they were happy.

https://www.amazon.com/American-Casi...ino+guide+2018

Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden - small and boring imo but if you like dolphins you can watch them swim and I think maybe even pet them?

Slotzilla (the zipline)- The zipline was by far our favorite and if we'd have had more time we'd have gone again! We did the upper one.. definitely do the higher one! :P

Tournament of Kings dinner show at Excalibur - It was a fun experience but I don't know if I'd call it a must see. We enjoyed the show and the food was decent but you're definitely paying for the show. If you're the kind to have a drink and get rowdy cheering on your side/team (knight in this case) then this is for you. You choose your seats when you purchase your tickets and each section is a country. Most people root for the knight representing the country they're sitting in. Hubs and I are very reserved people so we did not get into it but the people around us were having a grand old time.

The High Roller (ferris wheel thingy) at the Linq - This one had a nice view but of course it was obstructed by the glass so it was hard to take good pics. It's pretty slow moving so you get to rest your tired feetsies for awhile while enjoying the view.

Gondola's at the Venetian: I've been to Vegas 2x before this trip -- once with my sister and once with my BFF. Neither of those really felt all that appropriate to go on a romantic gondola ride with. Lol... So this time I made sure to go with the hubs. It was a fun thing to do/say we did but really I felt a little stupid with everyone in the canals watching us. The gondolier had a beautiful voice and she sung to us as we floated along the canal. She was also super cute and posed for a cute pic with us.

Of course we saw the freebies too... Bellagio Fountains, Fiori di Como, Mirage's volcano, TI's pirate show, etc etc. We did not go to a Cirq show b/c I had gone to one (Mystere) with my friend a couple years before and it just didn't impress me much. I felt like it was trying too hard to be weird and different.

I don't really see myself going back to Vegas again. Sort of feel like I did it all after going 3 times and I don't drink or gamble but maybe if I do I'll check out what's different about the Cirq show Sarah wants to see!

But okay I rambled a ton but I hope something in there was of some use! Whatever you do, I hope you have lots of fun doing it!

Oh, definitely check out the blue man group, if they are still going. My parents have gone a few times and they loved it.

We go to Vegas all the time. The dueling pianos is a must at the New York New York. The Michael Jackson show is really really good. Since she is turning 21 there are some awesome clubs Hakkasan is awesome, so is Hyde. The Skyfall lounge on top of Delano is amazing for sunsets and don't miss the bathroom in there I have no words, its terrifying if you are afraid of heights but amazing and unbelievable. The zip line at Fremont is fun but get your tickets early as it books up very very fast. The Fremont experience in itself is pretty fun, just people watching. The pools are amazing at Mandalay Bay & MGM Grand, rent a cabana for the day! Have a blast its so much fun!!!

I've been to Vegas once and probably won't ever go back unless I go by myself and for photography purposes.

There is a lot to do there, but I'm so far from 21 that I am out of touch with what they might enjoy! I hope you are all able to plan an amazing vacation for her, although I'm sure no matter what you do, she'll love!

I'm thinking about taking my son for a Christmas/21st birthday present end of December/January. Our list has a Vegas Golden Knights game on it, that's it, lol. We will see if we make it, all depends on the almighty dollar and that darn exchange rate

I'm been to LV about a dozen times for bachelorette parties, meet ups, work, etc. I second Charity on the dueling piano bar at NY NY. I've been to a couple Cirque shows, though I can't remember which ones, lol. They're all good. There is a big underground shopping mall at Cesar's Palace and the fountains at the Bellagio are a must-see.

Love Vegas!! But took my husband last time and we ended up in Death Valley for a whole day. I also had to take him to see Hoover Dam. You can spend and entire day just walking and sightseeing the strip. I have seen Ka (highly recommend) and The Beatles Love Show (if you like the Beatles.)

Thank you, everyone, for all of your suggestions! I'm making a list to share with our group so that we can purchase tickets early for shows that could possibly be sold out. Appreciate all the help!

We haven't been to Vegas in quite a while. One thing we wanted to do, but ended up chickening out was the coaster at the top of Stratosphere. We ate at the restaurant up there (which was nice and turns) and watched as the cars came down over the side of the building. I don't know if it's still there, but if she likes thrill rides, that might be a good one.
We saw a Cirque in LA and my guys really enjoyed it.

we did a weekend family trip (LOL) during this past winter break. i'm also far from 21, and my kids are too young (11, 10, and 6) so i'm also out of touch with what would be fun for a 21yo. here's what we did, anyway, in case it's helpful...

my 11yo is addicted to gordon ramsay shows so we ate at 2 of his restaurants - fish & chips (best fish & chips i've ever had, but i'm going to london in a couple of months so i'll let you know if that's still the case LOL) and burger. both were really good. we watched LOVE (beatles) at the mirage. i've seen it before and it's my favorite of the cirque shows so i wanted the kids to see it. (we've also seen ka and O in the past and they were both good, too.) we had brunch one of the days at the village buffet in paris. we love the made-to-order crepes (sweet and savory). giordano's at bally's has fantastic chicago deep-dish pizza. we also went to hoover dam, and of course did some shopping.

We stayed in NY NY three years ago and loved it. It was a great place. We went to see Blue Man Group and it was a fun for all ages show. Me, my brother and my son, all had a great time and you saw people of every age there.
