Husband Vent
It is a pretty good thing I am too sick to kick my husband's rear end today. I have literally been up alllllll night sick as a dog. I might have slept an hour total. I don't know if it's the flu or what but my stomach is so not my friend right now. So anyway, hubby gets up for work and I'm laying in the floor of the bathroom not ambitious enough to move very far away. He comes in and asks what's wrong. I tell him that I've been up all night sick and he seemed as unconcerned about how bad I'm feeling as he would if the next door neighbors cat were sick! I drag myself into the shower hoping feeling clean and fresh will help a little bit and he leaves without even checking on me! I was like uh......thanks a lot buddy! He did leave a note however that says..."I hope you feel better" Normally he's pretty great and completely considerate so I'm not sure what the heck was up this morning.

Ugh - I hate those "off" mornings like that, especially when you are sick!! I hope you start feeling better, and maybe he'll come to his senses and come home with a little surprise "get well" present for you.

Sometimes it really is amazing how insensitive men can be... and usually it's not completely purposeful. That's just how they are. I know the sympathy thing, the feelings, and nurturing behaviors are often really hard for my DH. I'm even guessing the note your DH left you, in his opinion, was a big thing for him. Perhaps he's even patting his back as he left the house for a job well done. I would sensitively tell him thank you for the kind note, but maybe next time he could also offer you a hug, or help tuck you in bed and get you some meds or a drink before he leaves.
Women are MUCH better caretakers, naturally. This is why I think some cultures have it right to have entire extended families... mothers, daughters and grandmothers all living together. |

I know how you feel, well my partner WAS like that, now when I'm not feeling well he's sweet to me, dunno why, think he "saw the light". Or maybe my efforts towards him when he's sick. Hope you feel better soon, and just like Brooke, the note was for him showing he cares. Men are so much more practical than women.

Men are such whiney babies when they are sick, but when you are sick, they think they have nothing to do. I am with Brook, he's patting his own back about that note. lol

Sorry you're feeling so yucky! And, sorry your hubby wasn't more compassionate. Sadly, I relate all too well. My FIL is the WORST when it comes to being compassionate and considerate. So, hubby did not grow up with a good example on that front. I have to say that he's definitely better than his dad, but it is far from his best quality. But, oh my, you should see it when he's the one who's sick.
If you need a good laugh, check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbmbMSrsZVQ&sns=em You've probably seen it before, but it's worth looking at again. Lol. Hope you're feeling better soon!

My DH believes that you should basically just soldier on when you are sick (he never takes a sick day), so he is usually the same way.
Hope you are feeling better soon! |
