Default Speaking of adulting...

I had a couple drinks with my sister tonight and got a little emotional about my divorce and move and (hanging head) various relationship fails since then. Drove home crying the whole time, thinking how I've effed up my life and my children and what a mess life has turned out to be.

Come back to my apartment and find John Green's new novel in my mailbox, which I did not order, and a note from my Johnny (age 19 back in Michigan) "Read this a bit ago and thought you would like it . Johnny."

Good LORD I'm a mess.

Aww... Val. Big hugs to you!
Your son is so sweet to think of you
All the more reasons to remember that, no matter what, there are those who love and think of you.

Aw Val. Hindsight is a great thing. Learn whatever lesson is to be learnt and move on - it's all you can really do. Life is full of lessons, some are just harder than others. And you can't have done too bad if you have a son sending you John Green novels

aww that's so sweet of your son. How thoughtful! You've raised him right to think of others and especially his mom.
I hope you'll be alright. Time will heal your wounds.

Aaaw, Val! I think we all feel that way at times. Like Jacinda said, learn and move forward. Think of Dori in Finding Nemo... "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming." That was very sweet of your son!!

Adulting is hard. Sure we all make mistakes, things we'd rather not discuss or admit. But through those mistakes, we grow and change in to a more beautiful person.

I'm glad you got to get out and do something for yourself, that's important, even if it left you an emotional mess. Sometimes we just need to cry it out and press forward. That was so sweet and thoughtful of your son to send you the book. Even though mistakes were made, you've created such a wonderful human being (a couple of them actually! ) Don't be so hard on yourself. We are our worst critic.
