Default Doodles

A couple of the recent kits I've purchased (like the new collab - Something Nice) have doodle collections in them. I don't really know what to do with these doodles and hoping ya'll could show me some pages with them as inspiration!

Thanks!

I think it depends on the kind of doodles. If they are like random pen drawings then I like to layer them on my background paper to give dimension.

The ones that are pics of animals or food, etc I have a harder time with. I think this is a cute idea.

I use them a lot on my pocket style pages. Here's one with quite a few doodles:

I LOVE applying Photoshop styles on the doodles! Glitter styles are my fave. It'll make it look like you doodled using a glitter pen:

You can also use watercolor PS styles, like this one by Misty:

I like to use them as little something to my pages, kwim? Or adding them as something funny on my photos... And Brook is THE.BEST! I am always telling her that.

Here I used some from our collab with Krystal...

collab with Penny...

and using not exactly cute doodles, but some scribbles...

I LOVE DOODLES.

I like to use them as if they are stamps or paint in the background, or place them on a page anywhere I can imagine I would draw or write something. They are great for creating your own project life cards or adding a handmade touch to your pages. They look the best layered on top of flat paper shapes (use a clipping mask to make it look like the drawing was drawn on the paper before it was cut), or on top of a photo (pretend it's a photo pen or opaque marker), or in the background of the layout mixed in with painty stuff. NOT on top of flowers... anywhere you could draw with a pen in real life. You can also enlarge them and clip papers to them and add a drop shadow to make it look like it was a paper shape cut from a silhouette or something like that.

I also like to make the doodles into elements. You can color in the outlines by making a layer underneath and filling with the paint bucket tool or a brush. Then, flatten the layers together and then add a white stroke (about 13 pt) to the outside of entire thing to make it a 'sticker'.

Like Zakirah said, you can add styles to the lines themselves, turning them into 'wire' or 'plastic' shapes, or glittered... watercolor, chalk... the options are endless. I also like to play with layer styles and use settings like lighten, color burn, multiply, overlay, etc. to make them more interesting over photos or patterned papers.

I'll admit I've never really been able to find the right place or page to try doodles on, but all these samples and ideas are making me fall in love with Doodles! I think my wishlist just got bigger and my budget tighter lol
