Default Lost my mojo

My life is in a funk right now and no matter what I do, I just feel exhausted, over worked, constantly tired and self-concious. I have been dragging my heels when it comes to making my weekly PL layouts and am several weeks behind. I just don't have the desire to scrap much at the moment.

How do you guys deal with loss of mojo and the feeling of being overpowered by life?

Hey Christine,
So sorry to hear this! Hope you'll get better soon and refind you mojo back as soon as you feel better!
I had several time like you describe, sometimes I do Nothing special to find my mojo back, just letting thing goes... Sometimes I force myself to scrap but most often it gives bad results so I think the best way according to me, is to let the things goes and return to scrap when you want. It should not be an obligation but Something that destress you to my opinion so if you feel exhausted, maybe it's not the good time.
I really hope you'll feel better soon and have more time for you.

When I don't feel like scrapping, then I just don't. I read books or do whatever else I want to/need to do. When you have a lot on your plate and you're just not feeling it, then take a step back for a bit. Have a break, look after you, and come back to it later when you feel ready.

As for feeling overwhelmed, maybe it's a good time to prioritise what's really important, and just let the rest go. E.g. Just have easy meals (eggs on toast, or something just as simple) for a while, do the bare basics in housework, cut back on extracurricular activities etc. Learn to say no. Hugs Christine - it does eventually get better.

I do what Jacinda does. When you don't feel like scrapping, don't force yourself. Take sometime off and hopefully one day it'll come back to you again

when i've felt stressed about being behind on project life and just not in the mood to scrap for whatever reason, i try to at least create a folder with pictures from the week, start a little notepad with journalling for what we did for the week, so at least when i AM feeling like scrapping everything, i have it organized and can just copy and paste the text <3

Sorry you're feeling like that--I hope things improve soon! When I'm in a funk and don't feel like scrapping, I do something else for a while. For me that's usually reading or just playing online. Sometimes a few days off is enough, but I've had times when it took weeks or even months for me to really want to scrap again. If I've already taken a break and it didn't help, I start out with doing related things like organizing photos and kits, learning a new technique, or browsing galleries. Then I make myself scrap, even if only for a short while each day. Eventually I start feeling it again.

My longest break was when Ben, who is 11 now, was born. I'd been digiscrapping for 2 years already, but I just couldn't get back into it. I spent the first 6 months of his life not scrapping at all, then the next 6 forcing myself to do it because I wanted him to have an album like my oldest did. I was starting to question whether I'd ever truly love scrapping again. And then one day something just clicked again, and I came back to loving it and wanting to scrap.

Hang in there--if it's a harder season in your life, it makes sense that you'd have less mental energy for scrapping. You'll get back to it, just give yourself some time.

I totally understand what you're saying. I'm going through a rough time as well. Like Jacinda said... don't scrap if you don't feel up to it. I stepped down from scrapping for a while (May - August). After a while, I started to miss it.

I'm still having a rough time in life, but seeing the September bingo card made me scrap again. I started scrapping a few pages, not for a project, not for an album, but just me for and for the fun of scrapping with no pressure on finishing a project.

I'm behind on a lot of projects, but I started my vacation album from my Summer vacation and it's going great.

Best of luck to you. Hope you feel better soon.

Scrapping helps me feel less overpowered/stressed usually. Doing it after the kids are in bed and going back to photos from a happier time in my life reminds me that the bad won't last forever.

If I'm too tired to focus on scrapping, I 'pre-scrap' by organizing my To Be Scrapped photos and To Be Used kits (and combining them) or just poke around Pinterest or Youtube and look at other people's pages for inspo... and then go to bed early for a few days.

hugs Christine, hope things look up for you soon.

I do what a lot of the others do, either I don't scrap or I just scrap for fun no pressure. Sometimes if I want do something but just can't open PS then I will go into my EHD and start purging, reorganizing etc.

Am just pulling myself out of funk but not a scrap related one, just a life in general. For those I just ride it out the best I can.

I hate when I lose my mojo, and honestly I am still trying to get my happy steady mojo back. That feeling of being behind on my projects makes it harder to get back into the swing of things, what usually helps me is to either scrap a page with no idea what photos I will put on it (just grab a kit I love and get really creative with it), OR Choose a photo I really what to scrap (it helps if there's the 'perfect kit' to match it available) and again just play.... will the pages end up in my books? I don't know, will I probably scrap the same photo again to fit my my projects? probably. but that's not something I worry about, I just want to focus on getting my creativity flowing.

Thank you for all your encouraging words and tips. I truly appreciate you. I've been staying away from the forums for a few days and just relaxed. Now I'm back for KCB's anniversary challenge so here's to hoping it will get me started again.

Sorry to hear you are going through this right now! Trust me it all happens to all of us from time to time. Lately for me, things have seemed off with my layouts. I have deleted and plain just started over from scratch which is something I never do. When things start to be a chore, I generally step back and come back to it when I am doing better. Your funk will pass soon, I am sure of it!

I try to scrap it. Or if it is still painful to scrap, I do something else like finishing my reading challenge goal, add another half an hour on my gym time, or watch tv series on tv. Bust most of all I take pictures daily to add to my pl or if I get a really funny or cute photo of my daughter, I try to scrap it to know if mojo is back.
