Default latest greatest baby gifts?

Ok you young gals...what is the coolest baby gift right now that you recommend? A good friend that used to work for DH just had her 2nd baby (first girl) and we wanted to send them something fun? I'm so out of the loop of baby stuff and need help - thanks!

i always give gift cards for diapers, and then make up a little gift basket for mom and dad (yummy snacks, a bottle of wine or sparkling cider, a candle, a "date night" coupon for babysitting if i know them really well).

my aunt, when she had twins, SWORE by boppy pillows. she had like, 10 of them all around the house. they sell all kinds of cool covers for them too. not exactly fun and exciting. but i'm boring when it comes to baby gifts, haha.

I LOVE the new boppy lounger pillow:

(they sell these at target and babies r us for sure)

and these adorable muslin swaddling blankets:

These are products I didn't have with my 2 boys, but will definitely be buying them when I have a 3rd baby. Both are at the tippy top of my must have list!

I've heard lots of good things about the aden and anais swaddling blankets - they are also sold at Target. I think we'll definitley be getting some of those for our new little one.

I was going to second the swaddling blankets. I obviously have not had a baby myself in awhile, lol but I do have a new grand-niece and those swaddling blankets are like sleeping pills. When nothing else works, wrap her up in that and off to dreamland she goes. And I like that they aren't very thick so even in this hot summer weather they can be used.

I'm a HUGE fan of Moby wrap or Maya Wrap ring sling...(I don't have these particular brands, but those are my recommendations for newbies and great shower gifts)

I like the "miracle blanket" for swaddling my squirmy babes... I still swaddle Asher's arms (6 months) in it even though he's too big to fit in anymore

Yes! This is one thing FOR SURE I know I want when I have this baby! I know nothing about other products, but the Moby Wrap is at the top of my list.

Not that I'd actually do this but PAPER GOODS. (well, I DID do it for me but I wouldn't give it to anyone!)

Paper plates, cups, plastic forks and spoons.

Who wants to do dishes when they just had a baby?

I have a ring sling by SnuggyBaby and I LOOOOOOVE it! I put my little guy in it and he's OUT in like 20 seconds. lol I like to wear him when I'm at the grocery store, out walking, at church, and sometimes just if I need to get things done around the house. I get TONS of compliments on it everywhere I go.

I'm boring... the best gift I got was from a friend that gave me a box full of baby toiletries... infant tylenol, gas relief stuff, teething meds, thermometer set, diaper rash stuff... all the things that you are so happy to have that first time the baby has something and you are home alone with the new baby... so that is the type of gift I give to all my mamas to be friends...

Gotta agree with Rebecca....GAS DROPS saved us many times when Rachel was little. That and a tub of Boudreaux's Butt Paste...love that stuff, but it does stain fabric, so beware.

I always buy people a miracle blanket, as heather mentioned above. I used them just to swaddle my sons arms right up until he was almost one as it was the only way he'd sleep. Our new bub isn't as much of a squirmed so haven't needed them as much this time, but they're wonderful for babies that always manage to get their hands out.

I also really want one of those ring slings now!

I have an embroidery machine so I give burp cloths, I buy the package of 12 cloth diapers from target and find out the name and put it on there with a baby themed design. It is the hit most of the time at showers because it is personalized. Here is an example:

I'm a huge Etsy fan - and you can get the CUTEST stuff on there! These are some of my favorites:

Nursery Art (wouldn't be too hard for a scrapper to make!):

Adorable baby shoes (tons in this shop!!):

Ruffle Bums (soooo cute under dresses):

These are just too cute - onesies, bibs, washcloths, etc:

And for my littlest (just about 6 months), right now she is loving her Sophie. She chews on it all day long and gets excited when she sees her... so cute!

My youngest was given Sophie and loves it. (Although we renamed him Melmin...)

My favorite gift to give is name labels.

http://www.inchbug.com/bumpyname-orb...it-labels.html

I have the baby's first and last names put on. They fit like a rubber band and work on bottles, sippy cups and water bottles. I even leave them on in the dishwasher. So much better than labeling cups with a permanent marker or masking tape.

My must-haves that are still really popular were those muslin swaddling blankets (LOVE the ones at Target) Moby wraps (also at Target) and sweet little knitted or crocheted baby hats.

I agree with Rebecca. The best gift I got was gas drops. Zach needed them early on, and I had no idea that it was even the problem! He spit up on me, and was really fussy, and the doctor had mentioned if he were doing that, I needed to use gas drops. I went looking and found the ones I got at my baby shower as part of a larger gift!

It's nice to have those little things like infant meds that you might forget to purchase and have ready, but you might need before you realize it... then, you don't have to run out and get it!
