Default Shrinky Dink Ornaments

Has anyone made shrinky dink ornaments using their digital papers?

I found this link just this morning... and I just gotta try them. I even went out an bought the shrinky dinks hours later.

I've never been able to find the shrinky dink paper, my kids would love making these - where did you find it?

The only stores near us are Michaels and AC Moore. Both carried the film. I bought std. shrinky dinks at AC Moore for my DD in the toy section. We are making ornaments the old fashion way. Then I saw the blog link above and had to go and buy some injet shinky dinks. I need to go to Michaels for a return. They carried theirs in the stamping aisle.

There's also some tips on using the paper too.

My Shrinky Dink tip is to put them under a heavy book immediately after pulling out of the oven. This will help flatten them.

By the way, regular Shrinky Dinks will not work in an ink jet printer. You must buy the kind specifically for the ink jet. Trust me, I know...

Ok...I did some things on the inkjet shrinky ... mine does NOT have a transparency setting...and I tried to print black background on it...and oh yuck! too much ink and such...did not like it at all. Bummed. Anyone know what setting you would use if you don't have a transparency setting????

I lightened the final file by 50% and printed it on "plain paper" setting, normal quality. I have a canon - I can't imagine that it would be any different for the mainstream printers.

I will add one more thing about my experience with shrinky dinks. When I went to seal the shrinky dink, I used mode podge (sp?) on one of them and it totally changed the color on the shrinky dink. The color turned a little yellower and much darker. I sealed the others with a spray sealer, which worked much much better and didn't change the color.

Overall this was a great project. I don't normally post pics but I can if anyone is really interested.
