Default Recipe Book/Cards

I have been wanting to make either a recipe/cook book or recipe cards with a box for some time. I have all my families recipes plus others I've gathered from elsewhere.

I thought I'd ask for some help from everyone here.

I'm looking for some inspiration pictures, templates, instructions...everything I need to know & that would help for this project.
I'm thinking about doing it hybrid style (this will be my first hybrid project), so any help with that would be useful too. (And if you know of any great kits for this project I could use those too.

I feel like I'm asking for a lot but I'm kinda doing this "blind" I guess you could say.

Thanks to anyone and everyone who can help!!

I went looking around for info a few weeks ago and came up blank.

What I ended up doing is purchasing 4x6 Avery Postcards, created a template for the front and back then slipping in the text. Avery provides templates for Adobe applications, so it didn't take much manipulation to produce a usable template for digi purposes. Other people had recommended simple photos, but many of my recipes had long directions. I also found that the simplest template worked best. A 1/3 inch patterned border front and back, with perhaps an element on the front.

Melanie Colosimo at Oscraps has several sets of recipe cards. Here's a link to my gallery of my recipe cards: http://www.scrappinmama.com/studio/s...ry.php?cat=527

Also, you can use 4x6 brag book templates if you like. Just put some paper and the recipe where the photo would be.

I released a workshop here in the store for albums that could be made into a recipe album (though I didn't include templates for recipe cards - I used actual index cards and intend to rewrite my favorite recipes onto them).

Got It Covered Workshop

There are a couple alternate covers sold separately (the workshop includes instructions - the "refills" don't) as well...they are linked on that product's page.

Paula -

Love your recipe cards! How do you deal with recipes that are too big? Do you use traditional photo paper?

Thanks

I made cards out of 4x6 index cards from Walmart. I just used lines, but could have easily done text as well...there was room for a small element on each. They are in my gallery with a recipe notebook.

A box would be very cute but you could also laminate each card and then put a metal ring through them and tie them with ribbon.

Default Recipe Swap and Recipe kits

There are two healthy recipe swaps going on at DST one for 4 by 6 and one for 8 by 8 pages. They are both due by the end of the day today, but I think it might be worth it to join one or just modify the same recipe to do both and get cards from others for just making one yourself.

Link for recipe swaps:
(8 by 8)

(4 by 6)

Also As You Wish Designs has some cute pre-made 4 by 6 recipe cards at shabbypickle and a cute kit called easy as pie. The pre-made recipe cards also come with some pre-done recipes from her CT for free. The blank recipe cards could be easily used to do up a recipe quick and join the swap.

Link for As You Wish stuff and other recipe stuff at shabby pickle:

Also I don't know if someone else mentioned it but Holliewood Studios kit Cookies for Santa kit at o scraps has great cooking stuff for baking like flour and sugar spills a bowl with flour in it and a whisk.

Hope this helps.

I just reduce the size of the font to make it fit. I print them on cardstock. I usually print out two, one for me and one for my SIL.
