Any excel gurus in here?

In short, no.

But you can make is slightly easier. If you hover your mouse on the left by the row numbers, it'll turn into an arrow. Click on it, and it'll highlight the whole row, on to infinity. If you hold control you shoul dbe able to select multiple rows, then use the fill feature and fill them all with the same color. Make sense?

yeah that's how i was doing it....it's ok for now but i'm lazy :P once there's 150+ names it gets old

isn't there some sort of format option that you can use?

i don't have Excel on my laptop . . . will check desktop later

Actually, there is. It's under Format--->Tables. I no longer have Excel (switched to Open Office), but I'm pretty sure that if you select the area, you can then go into Format--->Tables and choose one of the options there,

Ok, but if it doesn't work...it's my husband's fault. He told me that's how to do it and then decided, after my post went through, that he should double check the information. Dweeb.

Excel doesn't have tables, Word does, but your DH is right about how to do it. :)

Unfortunately the only way to shade rows in Excel is what you are already doing.

ok it's called "list" in my version (I still have 2003)

oh well I'll have to play again later. I just selected each one for now

There is a way to do it. Go to your spreadsheet and highlight the whole thing. Then got to Format, select Auto Format, and then List 1 - it will highlight your Header Line and then every other line.

No, I'm not a finance geek (she says sarcastically)

I've been to at least 3 excel workshops and I hated every one of them and still can't figure everything out. I think I'd rather do calculus than deal with excel- I hate that program. Don't know why, we just don't get along. LOL Good luck Meg!

ty that worked...anyway to make them specific colors? haha..i think i'll play around w/it tomorrow

You can change the colors of the table with the Table Styles under the Design tab. If you select the table it will pull up a Table Tools section with Design under it. Click that and you will see Table Styles which has various colors etc.

This is in Excel 2007.

I was lucky enough to get to take a six month course in Excel when I went to school to become an administrative assistant. Six months of Excel, Word, and Access. Another three months of Word Perfect...fun times. Fun times.

I am in school know. Took an excel class last semester and in one now. Unfortunately, I know more than I would like about excel.

It's funny, because I created a spreadsheet that designs a retaining wall. Literally.

But I didn't know how to make it easier to highlight rows. *forehead slap*

I need to complete some professional development and yesterday I was looking at classes that were offered. I ALMOST signed up for the Excel class but decided on "The Geology of Southern California".

fun times...fun times!!!!

I know how to put together a multi-million dollar budget in Excel for work, but I don't know how to highlight multiple rows at once, and I don't know how to design a retaining wall. :D

Pivot tables are my friends. I use them ALL the time. Let's just say, I love to do macros and use functions. I even asked my boss if I could take Visual Basic so I could program Excel and do more complex macros. He said no... :(
I am such a geek.
