The gift and letter we gave to Brooke's teacher at years end. Each fortune cookie had a personal message in it from Brooke. Miss Tait replied via email a few days later
Dear Miss Tait, Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in this year. We so very much appreciate the things you did to make learning exciting for the children and especially for our Brooke. She just loved being in your class. With you she felt safe, happy, and valued, which put our hearts at ease immensely. As a parent you always worry about your child. They are away from you for 6 or more hours every school day, and you just have to hope that they are being looked after properly. With you we knew she was in good hands. We could see from the art on the walls, the homework she was given, and the verbal updates from you, that your love of learning was being successfully passed on to the next generation. Thank you for getting to know Brooke, for knowing her strengths and weaknesses, and for working with her to develop various areas of learning. We feel like you took a personal interest in her and we think she felt like you did too. You are a wonderful teacher. Would that all teachers were like you. Thank you from our hearts for everything you’ve done this year. We are grateful for the time, effort and love you put into teaching. We can only hope that both of our girls will have more opportunities to be your student in the years to come. From the Prattley Family.
And her reply:
While putting up the tree and setting up Christmas cards around the house, I had a chance to read through them all again and I wanted to say a very sincere thanks for the letter that you wrote me, it has touched me deeply. As a teacher, I certainly want only the best for each of the children in my class. I often worry that there are not enough hours in the school day to really help each child individually no matter how hard I try and I just needed to say that, after reading your letter, I felt a sense of relief that I am heading in that direction and honestly I felt a little chuffed that it had been noticed. You have definitely made my Christmas with your sentiments so thank you so very much! Wishing you a safe and very, very merry Christmas,
