Ahhh, Las Cruces. It’s not the most exciting city ever, but guess what - it’s
NOT Deming!! 57 miles away, it takes just under an hour to get there. The drive
is long, hot and utterly boring. I think I can name all the landmarks you see
along the way - there are SO few of them. We can see those mountains pretty
much from the get go, but it seems to take forever before we reach the top
of this hill. It’s a little exciting, cresting that hill, seeing the whole city laid
out before us. This is the place to visit, since there is virtually nothing for
businesses in Deming. Las Cruces has pretty much everything that Deming is
lacking. A Target. A Walgreens. A dang mall!! And restaurants. Eventually
Dennys and the other handful of small local diners really wear thin, and we
crave ANYTHING else! Yes, we’ve driven over an hour to El Paso just to
have some incredible Italian food! It’s not the easiest drive, especially
in 100 degree weather with no AC, but at least we have the option. That’s
little comfort during the week, but come the weekend, you better
believe that our butts will be in the car, heading east to Las Cruces!
