Here in the Midwest (USA) we're going to be going into a deep freeze over the next few days. It's to be bitterly cold with wind chills between 25 and 35 (Fahrenheit) below zero! I'm fortunate that I don't have to leave the house if I don't want to, and chance are I won't want to :p
What's the weather like in your neck of the woods? Do you love it or hate it?

Pretty much the same as you. Being retired I don't have to go out. Did my grocery shopping yesterday.
I do have my one year follow up for my heart surgery from last January on Tuesday so will have to go out for that. I want to get that all clear that everything is OK because I have not been feeling that great recently and some of the issues I had before the surgery are starting to come back. I hope it is just because of cold weather but I want to know for sure.
As for cold weather.... HATE IT!

We got the special weather statement here about it being bitterly cold starting tomorrow night, but I'm kinda hoping the weather is good this week because I have birthday plans :P I always feel like they exaggerate the weather forecast here in Charlotte and then it ends up being the same as it always is haha :D

Yep, the cold is on its way here in Ohio! I mean, it has been cold since the beginning of January, but those sub-zero wind-chills are coming on Monday. It thawed enough today for Chad to be able to scrape off layers of old ice from the drive way, so we can start fresh for tomorrow's round of lake effect snow, haha. I have to go out on Tuesday morning, which I'm dreading, but I have to have an ultrasound on my gall bladder, and then I get my hair cut! I LIKE winter, but I don't like what it does to my driveway or the walking trails I like to frequent.

It's been unseasonably warm here where I live and while we have winter and snow it hasn't been very bad hovering around 0c or above- the coldest it's been is this weekend as well but even this is not too bad for where I live. It's warmer here than it is in Illinois (hear that ru ? LOL!) It is colder in Alberta where my oldest lives
One of the bears that we have in our town has yet to go to it's den for winter- it was seen just the other day in town. I know there have been similar bear sightings in Jasper as well. Makes me nervous about fire season this year for sure. (i'm never NOT nervous but i'm even more nervous now especially after LA)

Our weather for this upcoming week will be low to mid 60s. Not too bad for January. I am in California though.
We haven't had rain in quite some time.

I hope everything goes okay, Pepper. I also have to venture out to the docs for a routine appt. on Monday, the coldest day of the week. 9 degrees F. Lovely. I get a lot of lake effect snow where I'm at, so winter can be rough sometimes. I do like having all the seasons, though. Ya have to take the bad with the good.

This winter has been pretty mild (knock on wood) but we're pretty chilly this weekend. I think it's supposed to get near freezing again by Tuesday insetead of the -30 they're calling for overnight.

I’m in the Raleigh area. Brad Panovich is a good weatherman to follow, he’s super reasonable and down to Earth.
It’s been a cold winter here!! I feel like if it’s going to be this cold, at least let there be snow. We had that snow storm the other day that turned into a sleet storm instead and my kids were so excited :D it hadn’t snowed here in over 1,000 days and my kids don’t really remember the last time it snowed for really real.

I'm on the opposite side of the world from you guys and every time it's super cold there, it's always super hot here (the opposite :D)
this weekend, it's between 35-37'C (it's like 95-100'F) and I hate it

Like Eve, we're in the middle of summer here. It doesn't get as hot in New Zealand as it does in Australia, but it's hot enough for me.
The temperature has been between 23-26C (73-79F) the last few days, which means it's lovely in the shade, but anything over 25C and you don't want to be in the sun too long or it's burning. The ozone layer over New Zealand is pretty thin, so the UV risk is high. Even though Aussie temps are much higher, I feel we burn easier in NZ at lower temperatures. 30C (86F) is suuuuuper hot when you're in NZ, but quite bearable in Australia. So weird. It's a drier heat there, and more humid here.

I've always lived in Georgia (grew up in Savannah) so I'm just not used to much cold weather. And certainly not used to much snow, if any. The snow we had already this year was probably good enough for me. lol I just checked the forecast and it's supposed to get down to 17 tonight. Brrr. More snow Tuesday. My parents (near Savannah) are supposed to get more ice/snow than us (closer to Atlanta.) That's very unusual.
I hope all of you with appointments this week have good results. :hugs:

I'm excited for all the cool mornings we've been getting. Low 60s (or cooler) overnight means manatees! We've had a few nights get below 50 here in sunny South Florida and I want more. The highs are still in the high 70s and low 80s during the day (boo!) but I'll take happy little marshmallows on webcam as a consolation prize.
In December, we headed just north of Orlando for a homeschool field trip and the red maples were actually RED! It's such a wonderful sight to see since maples near me don't change.

I'm about four hours away from Los Angeles, so no. We haven't been affected here.
Buuut, my mom, sister and I were in Anaheim when the fires broke out. The last day at the Disney parks (when the first fire started) was REALLY windy. The day we left, the sky was covered in black smoke and the smell was awful. We could see fire helicopters retrieving water from a reservoir while driving out of East LA. So awful for all those affected. :(

I'm goldilocks when it comes to the weather. It has to be just right. I HATE bundling up, but I also HATE being hot. Let's be honest, I just want to live in Hawaii. That said I hate clothes (not in a nudist sort of way) but the fewer clothes and layers the better and I REALLY hate shoes. I'm barefoot almost year round.

We're going to have a hard freeze this week which is dangerous around here (Louisiana). All the city pipes are going to burst and we're going to be without city water for days and then a boil order for several more days. It happens every time. Sigh. Thankfully our house pipes have always been ok because Michael wraps the outside ones well and we keep heaters on all of them inside and leave them running a little. Praying that holds true this time as well.
I'm praying we don't have ice or snow this time. It's looking like most of the precipitation may actually go south of us with this one.

We're prepping for bad weather here in coastal Georgia too. Growing up in Northern WI a little snow, or even freezing rain, doesn't scare me but southerns in said weather scares the daylights out of me! We're supposed to get freezing rain and possibly even snow in Savannah so we've made all our preparations and I've already warned my kids I will be chauffeuring them anywhere we absolutely must go (like our cardiologist and opthamologist appoints we wait months for. Darn it, both in the same week! ) I just hope we don't lose power like they're predicting! It's way too cold for that right now!

As much as I wanted to go to my doctor's appointment today (90 minutes away from my house), I called yesterday to see if I could reschedule due to the extreme cold. They said no problem and I can get in on the 31st.
My cousin told me today that their schools are closed so she is keeping the granddaughters so their dad can still go to work (father has full custody). So it all worked out for the best.
My new glasses came in today but as much as I want them so I can see better, I'm not going out in this cold (around -13 feels like temps) to get them. Maybe tomorrow afternoon but might even wait until Thursday.

Here in southwest Idaho, we usually have a fairly cold winter weather with some snow. Our temps up until this week have been 40s for high & 20s for low, but they are now highs around freezing and lows in the teens. Very little snow so far this season. I am just thankful we have had sunshine lately. Our area typically gets inversions (gray & overcast weather with bad air quality that can last 2-3 weeks) in January and February. We've dodged that bullet so far. Hope you gals with the really cold weather stay safe!

Well, Alabama had Tuesday and Wednesday declared as a "state of emergency!". We had some freezing temps. We got flurries where I am but just 30 minutes south of us got a couple inches of snow and bad ice on the roads so they had cause for concern! My kids had fun with the flurries though so it was better than nothing!
