I've been a mess since hearing this news-I have never met the man-but he has influenced my life greatly.
I really can pin point my love for politics directly to this man. He made me understand them.
Meet the Press has been a favorite of mine for years.
Not only was he a man of integrity, but his way in Washington was something to be admired this day and age!
I was SO looking forward to his coverage of the upcoming election, he was SO excited for the Presidental Race.
He will be missed on such a large scale.
I hope his family has some peace and feels God right now.

I agree completely! I loved Tim Russert and he always had a way of explaining things that made complete sense to me! I was shocked to hear the news and so sad to hear it was right after getting back from celebrating his son's graduation! I can't even imagine how his family must be handling the news!

I heard that this afternoon and was quite upset too - so sad to lose a good man so early in his life. I feel for his family...

I agree 100% - I was so shocked and saddened to see this on the MSN homepage. He's a news icon and will be missed - it just seems so sudden and 54 is so young really. It's crazy and really makes you think that you need to enjoy every minute of life because it can be too short!

I feel the exact same way, Shannon! I've been glued to MSNBC and just taking in all the beautiful tributes. It really is sad.
Oh I completely agree! I've been watching CNN and NBC coverage of this all day today. I love Meet the Press. I can't imagine what the show will be like now that Russert is gone. My heart goes out to his family.

That was priceless!
Yeah, he was good. I didn't watch him a lot but when I did he always seemed fair. I'm a political junkie too Shannon. Just probably opposite from everybody else here LOL. I lean pretty far to the right but I'm an independant and really sick to death of all the parties and squabbling over silly stuff. I am convinced that 97% of them are crooks.
That was not the discussion topic was it. There I go rambling again.

I too was very sad to hear this, he really was one of the GREAT ones!!!!!
This really saddened me as well! I'm a huge Tim Russert fan and we've watched him for years. I always appreciated how professional he was and how he didn't try to be sensational for ratings. We watched Meet the Press every Sunday morning back when we were first married.
I will miss his coverage very much. :(
