posting layouts

Hi ladies,

This may be a really silly question, but how do you post layouts? I have done a few layouts and I would like to post them. I was thinking about using digishoptalk so I can post all my layouts that I have done (even though most of my layouts use products from here). How do you make the layout smaller so it can upload within the size limit?

I know this is something that I should know but I need help. Thanks so much. I really enjoy how much I am learning from reading through different posts. Yall are awesome :)

The easiest way is to use "Save For Web" in PS or PSE.

First I flatten it (so my shadows don't go crazy) by hitting Ctrl+Shift+E, then I resize the image to 600x600 by going Image > Resize Image (in PSE I think it's Image > Resize > Image Resize or something similar).

Then go to File > Save For Web, and it will automatically save it at 72 dpi (since 300 is only needed for printing, 72 is enough for viewing on the computer). Just change the quality to 7 or 8 (in PSE, I think it's 70 or 80) and hit save. :)

basically you want to resize your layout down to no larger than 600x600 pixels and have web resolution, i.e., 72 ppi. Also keep your file size to under 150k if you post here.

Different sites will have different policies for size and what is permitted regarding products. It's always a good idea to see what a site's policies are before you upload. SSD's is HERE (https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/community/showthread.php?t=314).

when I use Save for Web I just resize it in the Save for Web box. Plus you can also click on Optimize (something like that) and get the option to set a max file size.

eta: oh and probably since I don't resize until i get into the Save for Web I always get some msg about my file being too big. I just say OK and have never had a problem.

Mimi, whenever I try to do that (just change to 600x600 in the Save For Web box), it tells me that my image is too big and could cause system crashes...so I resize before hand, lol...don't wanna risk it!

i get that same msg but i likes to live on the edge. :D

Bree, I get the same message.

When I was taking the CS2 class at DSU, my instructor told me that I would get that message and that it's just a standard message and that nothing would happen, just to click yes. I have never had any problems with it.
