Ok, so DH and I have gotten a little bit in debt these past couple years. We did really good for a long time and then we moved, we thought I didn't need to bring in any income and we put ourselves in a pickle again. Not much debt, really...just enough to urk me! Ya know...I guess any amount of debt is annoying! K, so we have really good credit and I actually took another credit card with 0% interest for 6 months, no annual fees, etc. Was really excited cause we are gonna pay off what we owe in the 6 months at 0%, transfer from the other cc and it will be all good. Right...

Well, I just got off the phone with the new cc company and did my transfers and at the end he was like oh, and there is a $75 transfer fee...WTH?!?!

That blows...we just can't win, can we??

Wait, did they not tell you about the fee until after they did the transfers?

Just about any balance transfer incurs a fee of a certain percentage of the amount transferred.

Even with the added $75, you're probably saving a bunch in interest charges from the other card, so it's worth it. Or at least it has been for me in the past.

What I have done in the passed is had them do a lump sum deposit to my bank account and then I've paid off the cards I wanted. So it's like a balance transfer, but then there is only one fee (and if your company offers it, it isn't like a cash advance). I know that one time, my mom got slammed for almost $300 in fees because she had the cc company do all the transfers for her.
