The sound just went out on our tv. UGH! I can get sound when I use the DVD but not with the cable box. I also do not get any sound when I have just the tv on- no white noise. I don't know if it has something to do with the cable audio cords or what. And the tv is too heavy for me to move it and see.

that's crummy. our tv is showing signs of being on the way out (channel changes when we adjust the sound....occasionally turns off by itself...) and we just keep praying it holds out LOL.

That doesn't sound good. Our tv started having this green dot in the upper corner.

Dang! I hope it's not the tv, and it's just a cord *crossing fingers*

Sounds like maybe the speakers in your TV went out. Do you have a stereo or sound system to use instead? Like have the TV hooked up to it so both have to be on to watch TV. We had to do that with our old TV when the S-Video went out. Had to hook it up to the VCR so it always had to be on in order to watch TV.

son of a guuuuuuuuun!! we haven't had a tv for a week and a half!! our 52" dlp just decided not to turn on at all...the optical engine has been replaced twice and we are still waiting on some other really snazzy part. if it doesn't fix it we get a new one...thats the upside. having a tv malfunction is a real tragedy...i feel your pain.

for the one that says you have a green dot? Make sure you don't have any thing magnetic near your TV..stereo speakers, etc too close to your TV causes that. Move anything that's close to the TV away and see if that fixes the green dot.

As far as the no sound..if it works with the DVD player, i would hesitate to say that the sound on the TV has gone out. That's so strange. Maybe when you get someone to help you move the TV, unhook EVERYTHING, unplug it from the wall, wait a few minutes and then rehook everything, checking all connections as you go.

MY TV turned itself black and white in the middle of watching a show the the other day and I freaked, lol. I rebooted the cable box and it's fine now but that sure was weird!

That's what happened to us...had to get it fixed a few months after we got it, then a few months later had to bring it in for fixing again...30 days came and went and no part came in, so they gave us a new one. Well, they were going to, but we came into some money and got an upgrade to a 42" plasma instead of a 32" LCD. Sweet! LOL

hope it's easily fixed!

i'm kinda amused by the weird tv problems you guys are having. on ours if I press the down volume button on the tv set the sound gets louder and eventually gets quieter if i hold the button down long enough.

I just have to say that you all have some psycho tv's out there. Push this button and it does something else, push that button and it does what you wanted the other button to do. Crazy! LOL

if you get sound at all out of the tv, from at least one component (DVD player, cable box, whatever), it's not your TV. Ours went years ago, and it wouldn't work at all, no matter what was plugged in. We now use our stereo and not the TV for volume/sound.
check all your cables, you may need to replace one or more. at least that is a much cheaper fix than a new TV.

That happened to us the other day - all of a sudden the sound went off when we were watching satellite. BUT, when we flipped to the "signal" page which makes an annoying buzzing sound, there was sound. DH just played with cords until the sound came back on.

I'd bet that the problem isn't the speakers on the TV at all.

YAY! Billy fixed it! He switched some cords and reset the whole system- which had me disconnected from the internet all evening. But I have sound now!

Woooooot! I was hoping that it would be something simple like that! aside from the computer, you take my TV away and things get UGLY! LOL
