I have a cocker spaniel..great dog EXCEPT he's a digger...big time...well we live out in the country on 5 acres but of course his favorite spots to dig are right around the house...well I have 2 big beautiful dogwood trees right off my back porch. Apparently he went crazy digging the dirt around one of them and when we had a thunderstorm the other day the wind must have uprooted the dogwood! I noticed it just this morning. I'm so upset with this stupid dog...how many dogs can literally dig up a tree!!! So now DH is gone and my Daddy has to come and see if he can save my poor tree...UGH!! I love those trees :( Okay..vent over.

Oh, I hope you can save the tree, I can understand you don't want to lose it.
And, umm, you know what? Don't kill your dog. For this time. :)

Oh that stinks! Weird how they pick a certain area and that's the only place they will dig and of course it's never in the best place. Hope you can save the tree!

Sorry to hear that! I can so relate to you, except with me it's the submissive peeing problem. It's so frustrating and I'm tired of cleaning up pee. :( I just wanna leave Bailee out back in the yard so I she can pee all she wants.

I feel you! I just planted several small crepe myrtles in the backyard (I unfortunately don't have acreage- lucky girl!) This is what I came home to after leaving my lavb and shepherd mix for 30 minutes of swim lessons.

Yes- totally uprooted and halfway eaten in 30 minutes. It's bad enough I have to barricade the fence line so they don't tunnel next door... argh!

I did find out that it's the mulch they like digging, so I put cayenne pepper around it and they want nothing to do with it now.
