we didnt go.:( i was all dressed and was getting the kids ready when DH suddenly wasn't feeling well. These new meds have been doing this to him. On one hand, he's doing better, but on the other hand now he has these wierd side effecst. He'll be really tired, but restless and can't sleep. He's turning nocturnal. He'll be up all night cause he can't sleep (with bursts of energy too) then he'll sleep most of the day. Today we went to his moms and we were going to leave the kids there and just go out to eat and come back when he started not feeling right again. Even his step-sister and mom notices that he didnt' look right. so we came home. I called our psych therapist (we go see them weekly) and she got him an appointment tomorrow to talk to the doctor. I don't know what they'll do. It can take a long time to get just the right 'cocktail' of meds to help him. he's been on so many different ones, i'm losing hope. I just want my husband back, to be somewhat normal.

i'm pissed i don't get to spend some alone time with DH, but what can I do? Its not his fault, so i'm not taking it out on him. i'm just really wanting a break.

The right med cocktail is sometimes really easy, or really elusive, one of my best friends is schizophrenic/bipolar and she's had the worst two years of her life trying to find the right combo. It's just a pharmaceutical mystery sometimes. To top it off, she has a six year old and a 3 year old. It's sometimes just luck, but the trial and error is exhausting (for everyone, not just the patient, I've spent many a night with my "nieces" while their mother had a "bad" night), hang in there, Corey. **big hugs**

Awe Corey, I'm sorry. It's my spouse who's been on your end (I have bipolar disorder). I don't know what your dh is taking meds for, because I don't assume anything. Sometimes you get lucky and get stability or what comes as close to it as you're going to get. But it can sure take a long time to find it.
I hope his pdoc can find him the right combo. He'll feel better and you can get your "date time" once more.
lots of hugs for you.

thanks everyone. for those that don't know, he has PTSD. He's an OIF Vet. (Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was there in '03. And PTSD stands for Post Tramautic Stress Disorder; anxiety, depression, mood swings etc.) He has been on a new med that they give to people with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder that has some good results. but i don't know if this one is right for him. it started out really working well, but not so much now. the doctors think he may be bipolar as well, but aren't sure. Like Bryn was saying, the right med cocktail is hard to find and may take a while. he's only been diagnosed for a couple years.

He came home and took a long nap. Then his brother called and he went to go fishing with him. Thats one of his favorite things to do, so i hope it relaxes him and that he has a good time. So I took the kids to Taco Bell tonight now i'm sitting here scrapping and watching Back at the Barnyard on Nick with Aidan, waiting for him to go to sleep like Emma, lol.
