I am a PSP user and I've never had trouble creating and saving a layered file in my program and then saving it as a .psd. I even created a template this way last week! But now today I'm working on a template and every time I try to save it as a PSD, it gives me the warning that it will be a merged image. I am selecting .psd so it should be a layered image, not a merged image. I am racking my brain here trying to figure out WHAT changed that it worked for me all the other times and not this one. HelP!

I don't use PSP, but when PS does crap like that to me, I just reboot...that's my high-tech answer for everything.

Can you save it as whatever the PSP layered format is, then reboot and open it, resave as a PSD?

thanks girls. i've tried everything mentioned so far.

no luck yet :(

we have a new twilight-speak in our house for when we get mad. We call it "wolfing-out". As in, "child, if you don't stop hitting your brother, I'm going to wolf out."

Yeah, this is making me want to wolf out :p

I use PSP and saving it as a PSD doesnt give me that warning...I just did a quick test file with just simple shapes on each level. I checked to see if there was something I could change to make it do that but I didnt see anything. Did you make any changes prior to doing this?

do you have a text layer? if so, try rasterizing it first then see if you get that msg still

not that I know of...that's what is so frustrating! I successfully did this, even as recently as last week. I've reset everything, restored factory defaults...and no luck. i haven't been this irritated in awhile. urrrgh.

name all your layers/what they are out there..you must have something in there that is causing it to say that..not sure what though haha

try duplicating it and saving the new file as a psd?

Why dont you try making another layered template with just a few layers and see if it will save ok? Then if it does you know it isnt the program but something to do with just that particular template you have been working on that is causing that error.

Also you could duplicate it by pasting each layer into a new document and then saving after each layer. Should be able to figure out which layer is causing the issue

yeah... i have no idea what i did to tick it off....

but thank goodness i've been into a graphic style lately and there were only about 7 layers....so I just started a new page and copied the rasters from the old page to the new page...the new page saved perfectly. ugh. now i'm going to go back in and rename the rasters, etc. If I run into this again, I'll be able to pinpoint where the problem is I think. I'll try to resave after i make any major changes to see if I can figure out where I went wrong.

Thank you SOOO much for your help!

I'm glad it seems to be resolved now :) And lol at the "wolf out"--I'd like to use that phrase sometime :)
