i am finding it ironic that I am now becoming Facebook friends with classmates from high school who I was not friends with. Or even spoke to. ever. however am thinking of trying to befriend classmate who appears to work for Adobe. The fact that he was popular in high school while I was not is holding me back however :p.

This kept happening to me lately on Facebook, because we're having a HS reunion this year. I've been getting friend requests from people I barely knew in HS. Weird eh?
This is too funny.... I just signed up for Facebook to get my Avi button and one of my old friends found me.... added me as a friend.... and then it all went CRAZY!! Now I am getting all these invites. It is a HS reunion!! I even got back in touch with my core group of friends that I had a bit of a falling out with and have not talked to in almost 15 years!!
I am getting invites from girls that were older than me that I NEVER talked to so I actually declined and then felt GUILTY. It is just weird. Its a novelty for now... we'll see how long it lasts.

I was just talking with dh about this awhile ago. People who hated me in HS are sending me friend requests and I'm totally declining them!
Why the freak should I want to have anything to do with them now?

I've got more friends on facebook from school than I ever had at school :p I think it's really funny that people who made my life hell are trying to be friendly. If nothing else it's worth it just to see the look on Nan's face and hear the sarcastic comments she comes up with, I know where I get my sarcasm from now for sure :p when I tell her whose trying to be friends. Ha-ha! I was so shy in high school I hardly talked anyone...BUT it hasn't stopped me from being friends with any my high school classmates because I am so nosy and I want to see what everyone is up to. I still don't say much to them...I just snoop.

I have no qualms in admitting I am a Facebook friend whore.
I won't Friend someone I never EVER spoke to, but if they were in a class or activity with me, dated a friend of mine, or were friends with a friend of mine... they are fresh FB friend meat!

bravo! 6G of points for originality! I'm just one of the dinosaurs which will use this thread as a reason for why I don't do facebook/myspace/whatever and wonder what people are up to....

I deleted my original FB account because I hated the friend whores. I'm like Mandy though. Remember in high school when you hated me? Yea. Eff you.
I'm all for maturity and hindsight Mimi, don't get me wrong. But most of those ppl only want more friends on FB to look cool. They are exactly like they were in HS. I was never a fake person, and I don't intend to start being one. So leave me and my tiny friends list alone, kwim?
PS~I plan on walking into my reunion looking hot and amazing and KNOWING that I've got it WAY better than any of the "cool kids", who btw, mostly live with their parents and work in the mall. Karma's a b***h :p

I personally think they are just being nosy ... if you don't have a public profile. If you're set up that way, they can't see your profile unless you're a "friend" ... so they HAVE to add you to see what you're up to now. hee hee
edited to add ... I'm not saying this is a bad thing necessarily ... I've tried to look at profiles of people I think I know ... so I am being nosy too! LOL! I just think that it might be the reason for some friend requests that make us go, "Huh???"

Mimi - if you don't befriend him, I will.
Cuz I'm totally random like that. ;)

I think there are 2 people besides me from my high school on facebook, and they are there to check up on their teenagers. I think I am just the wrong demographic for Facebook. :)

I was just browsing through my HS reunion site (20th this year. Good thing I graduated when I was 4, otherwise I might be old now :glare:) and I realize that I really didn't like any of those people. Furthermore, seeing them as grownups totally creeps me out.
Yeah, I dont get the whole friend count thing. I just like to see the photo albums! But is sure has been weird.
Hubby and I are HS Sweethearts and we moved across the country right after HS to get away from all the drama so it is weird to be back in contact with those people again.

I just signed up for Facebook and I haven't had any highschool people I don't know contact me. BUT I have had a TON of scrapbooking people I don't know want to be friends with me! :) It's kinda funny. I always accept because I don't really care. I was SUPER shy in highschool, so most people probably still don't know that I even exist! I have gotten in touch with some of my very best friends that I lost touch with in college. That is really cool. I think that a lot of people are just looking to network. They don't necessarily want to be your best friend, just keep options open. They may know someone who could help you out sometime.

Ditto. I have never even gone to reunions because of this very thing -- I don't wanna make nice-nice with a bunch of people I didn't even like when I saw them every day 20 years ago. I already keep in touch with my real friends from HS.

Hahaha. I'm the same way on Myspace! I was NOT popular at all, but now all these folks are like, "how are you, it's been so long, I've missed you, how's life?"
I think it's hilarious. I guess that happens when you turn into adults, huh? lol
