I have like NO MUSIC. I have a long list of songs I want and I can't pay a dollar per song like with iTunes or I'd be spending over $100... yikes! So I was wondering if any of those sites that you pay for a $15/month membership to DL all you want are any good. Can you subscribe for a few months and then quit? Do you need a current membership to continue playing the music you've DL'ed? My sis had one once that when her free trial expired the music she DL'ed wouldn't play anymore.
Is there a good place you get your music? Does it have a really good selection of songs?

I use Rhapsody but yeah, you have to keep your membership unless you pay for the individual tracks. I've had rhapsody for 2-3 years and LOVE it. have it hooked to my computer through stereo speakers, it's compatible with my MP3 player which I can also play in my car, so everywhere I would go I have anything i want at my fingertips and I gradually spent $1-5 here and there buying songs I know I would want to keep forever just in case I ever decided to cancel the svc but so far I'm still in love and my kids can't ruin my CDs anymore, :P

We also use Rhapsody but don't actually have a membership or download any songs. You get to listen to 25 songs free every month and that has worked for us! (in addition to the ones we buy every now and then through itunes)

Same here with Napster - I have to pay if I want the songs to keep working (otherwise it gives the invalid licence error - which my husband found when he was out of the country)

I used eMusic for a while. I still have the songs I DL'd from there on my MP3 player. BUT their variety left something to be desired. If you like a lot of unknowns, or unique or indie music, it's not a bad choice. I now use iTunes. If you have a library nearby, you can also check out music there and some have great choices. I recently got Michael & Janet Jackson, Television, Snow Patrol and some 80's new wave collaborations.

I had a Napster subscription for quite awhile. It was worth it at first, but you can't keep listening to the music if you cancel your subscription. In the long run it's cheaper to just buy songs individually or albums if you like enough of the songs. I've used both Napster and iTunes to download songs, they also have albums you can download for cheaper than buying it in a store.

I use iTunes. I try to limit myself to about $15.00 per month.
Hubby also has an iPod and he raided our CDs. We used to have a CD carousel that held 500. He's put ALL of those into his iPod. He hasn't spent a dime at iTunes.

I use Itunes as well, although I only buy full albums. Still heaps cheaper than getting the "real" product from the shop and I dont worry about people stealing my CD's as they are all on the computer anyway :)
