View Full Version : I have *the* greatest neighbors

Seriously, NO ONE has neighbors as wonderful as mine. I mentioned last week to my friend Mistee that I'd like to clean up the landscaping in my yard. It was way overgrown and just looked really sloppy. Unfortunately, I didn't have a clue where to start. We're always doing little favors for each other, so she said that she and her husband would be happy to come help me. They enjoy working in the yard, and their house is literally a showcase (they've won awards).
So I woke up this morning because I heard something outside. I looked out, and they had a huge trailer backed up in my yard. They had loaded it down with new shrubs and mulch. They spent probably 5 or 6 hours literally digging up every shrub and plant I had out there, replanting 20 more shrubs, and spreading 25 bags of mulch. It looks absolutely INCREDIBLE.
AND they refuse to take any money. Even for the supplies. I'm "housesitting" for them tomorrow because they're having a handyman over to do some work, so I plan on leaving something for them then (when they aren't around to argue with me about it).
I'm just so thankful to have them in my life. All the work they did would have cost me well over $1000 if I'd hired out. You just don't find great friends and neighbors like that anymore.
As an aside, I *did* go out to help them, but I know I was in the way more than anything. I'm completely sunburnt and exhausted, and I didn't do a fraction of the work they did.
Just had to share!

Dude! Can I borrow your neighbors? That so totally rocks! I am NOT a lawn and garden girl...I'm like Monk...ewww...nature on my shoes! Get it off!!
What a blessing though to have people like that in your life!

MONK! Bwaaaaaaaaaaa!! That's totally me, too, Krystal. I couldn't get in the shower fast enough after being outside. I don't *do* outdoors. Ever.

Oh good for you Libby! They're amazing! It is always nice to read about people with such good hearts.
My neighbor won't even hold the elevator door for me, even if he sees me coming a few steps away...with a baby stroller!!!

Thats so cool!! Our neighbors wouldnt do that either. I kinda stay to myself here though and our yards are an acre or more so we dont see our neighbors unless we actually go out of the way to see them.

Holy cow, that's awesome. We used to have neighbors like that back when we lived in VA. Our neighbors here are very nice, and they are our friends, but they aren't THAT nice! LOL.

You're very lucky! I'm very inept with anything green (I say I have a black thumb).
My back neighbor is the opposite of yours - they put up a deck and large fence (there was already a smaller fence), and then half-painted our side of the fence. It would have been better if they didn't do it at all, it looks so terrible. After 3 months of it looking like crap, we finally called the city to check if they had even gotten a permit to build those structures in the first place. I guess not, because the other day, my DH heard the lady outside talking on the phone very loudly (and rudely) about some letter from the city and that she had to do something. I am glad we don't have kids, because she dresses very skimpily, sometimes with profanity on her shirts, and she swears like a sailor with every other word a swear. Very rude!
