We went hiking today...almost 4 miles at Orland Wetlands Park (http://www.nbbd.com/godo/orlandowetlands/) and while walking along the lake there we see a deer but it was out of my cameras zoom capabilities to get a clear shot. We have been htere many times in the past but this is the first time seeing an actual deer. Weve seen many tracks and heard them in the woods though. Saw some tracks from what I believe was a wild hog and some raccoon and possom tracks and then when we were walking a gator comes running across the road about 20 feet away. That was really cool. We see them in the water out there all the time but never out of the water. Didnt get a picture of him either because he was too fast for me LOL. Now Im just resting cause I am sore as heck!!

Well girl if you want pictures of deer- Come down here!!! We do everything to avoid running them over like crazy come fall and winter here. And we have a park that has a beautiful trail that you can hike and they just walk about you like its nothing.
But you seen something I never have out of a zoo- No gators up here! lol
Sorry you didn't get the pic but sounds like you had fun getting sore none the less

we see gators everywhere here. They say every pond, lake and river in Florida has at least one. The ponds/lakes in the wetlands have dozens if not more in each LOL. It was really windy/cloudy out there today though so we didnt see any sunning themselves on the banks. Here is a picture of one I took last time I was there though:

Um yeah, no thank you to the gators...
We have deer somewhat close to us here. I saw a beautiful 4 pt. buck in full velvet while camping but he was gone before I could even think about getting my camera out.

Im ok with the gators cause for the most part they do not bother you...now one time when I was out in the woods with just me and my husband I was about 100 feet ahead of him walking back to the car and I almost stepped on a rattlesnake. We had went back to the river to go swimming and so I had on flip flops. Now that really freaked me out. It didnt move at all. They can be very aggressive and I really do not like snakes!!

Not far from us there was a bear a few weeks ago. It even made the news, LOL! We have deer, rabbits, and all the normal "woodland" creatures...nothing like gators, though. :)

Ive not seen a bear in person here but I know they are here because we see their prints and they show them on the news when they wander into peoples yards. We have seen deer in our yard at one time but as more people move into the area there are fewer and fewer of them around. Makes me kinda sad. I like seeing all the animals around and love being out in the middle of the woods hiking

I had a bear come into my tent when I was camping, he was looking for food not people, so he poked his nose in, and pulled it out again. I've seen several in person! I've seen deer too. My parents had a wild turkey in their backyard for a while...and there are cougers here too. The one thing I would LOVE to see someday is a moose...
