OK girls and Sir......I am on the hunt for a new dishwasher and need a good one. I run the thing at least once a day, sometimes twice so I need one that will hold up and one that I don't have to wash my dishes before I put them in the thing!!!!! Thanks chickas!!!

Twice a day??? WOW! I have a plain old dishwasher, not a perfect one but it does it's job. I know there are some super ones out there, hopefully someone will have a good one to recommend.

Before we moved we bought a new kenmore in our old house and I loved it..I can't remember the exact name of the style but it was super quiet and cleaned really well. When we moved into our new house the dishwasher here is 16 years old but it too is a kenmore and is still running and cleaning really well. It's older so it's louder than the one we had purchased before we moved, but hey...it's lasted 16 years so it's a good brand....oh and the one we replaced in our old house was a 15 year old kenmore as well...so I think that brand must last lol :)

I am looking at those right now actually.....I think we will probably just go to Lowe's and see what they say, they are pretty knowledgeable (shocking as that may be!!!) there. We have purchased a smallish fridge, washer & dryer from them all based on their recommendations and so far everything is working really well. I have never spent so much $$ on a washer & dryer but they are a really good brand and they can do large loads ( having 4 boys I need that ). Thanks for the advise, I really appreciate it.

We just bought a new one in January. I LOVE it. It's a Bosch. It was around $600 though, lol. i went in the HH Gregg not planning on spending a lot but I was amazed by this one. Its fairly quiet; not silent but i don't mind the noise anyway. it washes really well. there are no heating elements in the bottom like most dishwashers. i guess it heats the water inside it and i hardly ever have to emptly the trap. the water gets so hot it pretty much dissolves the food particles. Anyway, its awesome. Best purchase ever. Well, that and my Dyson vacuum.
are you complaining about having white appliances? well, we have black and its WORSE. stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. the microwave isn't so bad cause its up high above the stove and no one touches it. but don't buy black appliances. mine always have spots, handprints and smears on them. we are looking into getting a new fridge and i'm going stainless steel!

bosch gets my vote and just saw on hgtv today it is the top rated brand. they are a little more but clean better and are more energy efficiant.

Yep, my SIL has a Bosch and loves it too....she spent mucho $$$$ on hers cause she can afford it, I can't even hear hers!!! She does put dishes in it that are just covered in gook and they come out all sparkly clean!!! That one is def on my list and Lowe's carries them but I would still like to look around as far as pricing goes....
Thanks for all the input so far...bring on more if ya got it :)

We bought a new one two years ago, we have stainless steel appliances, so it's stainless, but I'm sure you can get it in any finish.
Mine is a Whirlpool Gold, which is what my fridge and stove also are. My washer/dyer are also Whirlpool and are almost 12 years old.
I had an issue with my dishwasher that seems to have resolved itself, I'm thinking it was just clogged. I'm more than thrilled with mine otherwise. I can't find the exact model we have, by looking at them, I think they have changed the style a bit. This one (http://www.whirlpool.com/catalog/product.jsp?src=Search&categoryId=108&productId=1055) is most similar.
ETA I put everything in my dishwasher, I rinse nothing, and I never have anything come out dirty unless I have smooshed too much silverware in together so they "spoon". :D

FYI Corey, stainless gets pretty dirty too.

I have a stainless cleaner for mine, I just clean it every other day, no different than I would have cleaned the outside of a white one with a cloth every other day. It shows worse though, and with grubby little popsicle covered fingers, it gets yucky LOL

I had a Bosch at a different house, and I absolutely loved it.
We had a kenmore that broke exactly on the 1 year warranty. They tried to fix it a couple times, and finally replaced it. I replaced it with a whirlpool, and the silverware tray is in the door. I wouldn't get it that way again because I don't think the silverware comes as clean.

THanks again chickas for all the great advise......hopefully I can tell you all on Saturday what we decided on because I am really getting sick of washing the dishes, putting them in the dishwasher and then washing them all over again :cursing: I think I am gonna push for the Bosch but we shall see!!!!!
