I'll just remember where I was that day and then spend my day thinking of my friends in Iraq right now.

we just sent a friend off to Iraq Monday as a matter of fact. Think I'll send him an email.

Our flag is flying, I blogged, I'm working on a LO.
I also said some silent prayers for those who lost loved ones, for those who lost theirs lives, and for those fighting to protect our country and our freedoms (although I usually pray for them anyway).

We fly our flag as well. Also we talk about that day and we talk about and think of and pray for our friends in harm's way and those who we've lost even more than usual. I think if I can find the time I'll blog too.

my husband just came home for lunch and said we are the ONLY house in the neighborhood (200+ houses total) that he could see a flag flying :( that's so sad to me. My daddy raised me to be very patriotic and respectful of our country anyway, and I guess it's always been in me to be patriotic, but I just wish they ALL had flags out.

That is really sad Amy. I'm hugely patriotic too, so I understand where you're coming from. :(

Honestly it makes me a little sad to think of how quickly 9.11 is becoming just another day....

I did a blog post on it, thinking about about doing a LO on it, i'm wearing a flag shirt. I'm pretty sure my grandma has her flag out.

Exactly Sara. I always make a big post on my blog about it (not that anyone even reads my blog, but it makes me feel better). Too many people act as if nothing happened. I hate that.

Part of my blog post was on it. I also say a little prayer for my parents' friend who lost his brother in the attacks, hoping that he is able to get through the day OK.
I always reflect on the events of that day every September 11th, and for a few days before and after, but I must admit no longer does it stay a part of my daily thinking like it used to do the first couple of years. It's like when I lost my dad a couple years ago - at first it's always there, the loss, but then it becomes less and less part of the daily coping.

I think it's fair enough that you choose to fly your flag and see that as your way of "honouring" the day. But maybe for other people they prefer to try and forget about what happened today. I would assume that for some people who lost loved ones today must seem like a reminder of the day that there personal world changed forever. They may not want to think about the damage and the deaths that occured. I have to admit I am not American but today still leaves me feeling sad, I try not to think about what happened on this day 7 years ago because it makes me cry and I wasn't even directly affected by it. Maybe some of those people have there own way of honouring those that were lost without displaying a flag for everyone to see. I guess it's a personal choice of what people choose to do. now you guys have me wanting to dust the ashes off my blog and post. I haven't posted on my blog at typepad since my daddy died in March but maybe it's time. I did put some videos up on my myspace page, and the photo of the firemen raising the flag at ground zero. I like the idea of wearing the flag shirt too. I'll wear mine to class tonight. I like hearing how everyone is doing something...even if it's a small thing to at least remember.
edited: Crystal, I guess I never thought of it that way and you do have a good point. But I have a feeling that where I live, not many people would have been "directly" affected (not to say they didn't, I have no way of knowing)but we are in NC and I just wish still...even on days that aren't so sad..that there were More patriotic Americans.
oh and I did update my blog for the first time in nearly six months! LOL

ALL of my kids wore RED/WHITE & BLUE today. They all go outside and have a little ceremony at the flag pole ( and have for the past 7 years) and we talk about it a little bit too. I am sure the older ones will discuss it at school today as well. The twins really don't understand...they saw the first plane hit the tower this morning on the news and thought it was cool ( darn kids  ) I tried to explain it to them but at 5.5 yrs. old they just don't get it.
I, sadly too, am one of the only ones on my street that has my flag out...it hurts me to NOT see more flags flying :(
I still remember where I was when this all started to unfold...I am pretty sure I will NEVER forget!!!
THANKS to all of those serving our country, I know a lot of you here have loved ones in Iraq and I am sending you {{{HUGS}}} and prayers.
I do believe I will blog today too!!!!!

When I went to New York in 2003 they had a store down by ground zero. Well my dad is a huge flag guy and flies it whenever he can since he is a Vet...well I found a flag that has the names of every person who was killed on 9.11...It is very special to my dad and he only flies it on 9.11...It makes me proud to see it out there on our flag pole. I just pray for all those who lost there lives that day and who continue to loose their lives for our country.
Also I have my car lights on anytime I go anywhere to show tribute to them.

WOW, Holly I cannot believe I forgot the headlights thing....I did this for 3 years after 9-11 but have sadly forgotten to do it the past 4 years! I fell terrible now and will make myself remember to do it next year for sure.
P.S. That flag must be so cool. I would love to display one of those EVERYDAY!!!!!!
