View Full Version : Interesting observation RE: Crib Cards

Did you keep your kids' crib cards? For some odd reasons I really loved mine...they just make me feel very sentimental and really take me back to my birth moments.

Now let me preface this by saying I'm by no means anti-formula. I am pro-breastfeeding but every single one of my babies has had breast and formula to on extent or another (Nathan was 1/2 and 1/2, Naomi was about 95% formula fed and Parker is 95% breastfed)

That being said, while I'm sitting here catching up my pregnancy albums, I dug out my crib cards and scanned them in for their scrapbook. Back in the day when Nathan was born, it specified that they were breast or formula fed. That way they wouldn't feed the baby formula. I checked, and Nathan's crib card was made by Medela. Nowadays they just say I'm a boy or I'm a girl and the cards are made by the formula companies. Just an interesting observation.

Here are their cards (I studied them and there is nothing I don't mind sharing) :)

I saved mine too but I cant remember what they said. I got mine from when I was born when my mom passed away and it said on it I was breastfed which I did not know because I specifically remember being like four and still on a bottle. It was totally different though...no graphics or anything pretty just blood type, moms name and my measurements.

I have both of my boys crib cards. I used one in a paper LO. What a great idea to scan them and scrap! I may use that as inspiration!

yep...I have ALL 4 of my kids, but I will have to go home and check what they say now...since Sam is 15 and Ben is 7 it will be interseting to see if they are different!

I scanned my son's in too! Our card was made by the hospital and has a place to note how the baby is being fed. (the hospital is pretty pro-breastfeeding, so they probably turned down the formula companies! :))

I think I'm too sentimental about that stuff... I've scanned in his little wristband, and then also scanned the crazy feeding log we kept while he was in the hospital (for how long he ate on which side) which includes a log of wet and dirty diapers. We were CRAZY new parents! It makes me laugh now!

I don't have one of those .. maybe it was just the hospital.. or that he was in the nicu. That would be something nice to have though. :)

I dont have one either. This makes me sad. The only thing I still have from the hospital is the announcement that they hung outside on the door.

My card that I got with lucas looks just like the one you had with nathan, has the "i'm a breastfed boy" in great big letters.

Oh, what a good idea to scan them for layouts! lol, I never thought of that! I didn't even have a digital camera til my girls were 6 months, and I hate that I don't have any pics before that on my computer to use in los. I really need to get on dh to get our scanner hooked up!!

I have Dylan's somewhere - I will need to pull it out ans scan - I have a whole box of that stuff I saved to scrap with (before I found digital) and I will have a scanning party...lol
I do not recall if mine specified how to be fed though. I will have to look.

Mine are so irritating... the boys both have their father's last name... which is different from mine...
and they didn't even put Phin's name on his... it says Baby Boy Clark, the whole time he was in NICU!!
So, it's not his first name or his last name! /cries

LOL My dd was born in 1998, and her crib card (which is in her scrapbook) is exactly like yours for Nathan. Same graphic and everything. Just pink. :)

aww.... La!
It can't be that it was because he was in NICU, I was in the NICU a bunch with Phin and that was when they needed those markers the most! I just hated that they never put his actual name on anything. He was just "Boy" or "baby boy", never Phineas, or even Phin (I would've been happy even with a Finn!)

It seemed terribly impersonal.

Maybe you just missed it? Or they forgot to throw it in with the gob of stuff they make you take home. ("here, can you throw this out for us?")

Yeah, 2 of my 3 were in the NICU, so it's not a NICU thing. Every baby has one...maybe they forgot to give you yours!

And Bryn, I'm with you. You can see Nathan's just has his last name on it. And they didn't fill in his head/chest. And Parker's immunization record says Baby Boy Brandenburg on it.

hmm, I didn't know those had a name. I have no idea if I kept it. I'm thinking . . . no. I'm thinking it never occurred to me that I should save it. I think we just took pics of the kids with them in the hospital.

oh and this will for sure show my stupidity but i kept looking at your cards and was like "why does it say jolena.. her name is lena" yea totally missed that... lolol

LenaGardner
09-12-2008, 06:30 PM
LOL I'm named after my dad...it was that or Josephine I suppose ;)

My mom was also a big Dolly Parton fan.

NO ONE calls me Jolena so I forget sometimes that it is my name :D

All of mine were made by formula companies! I still have them, they are in their baby boxes.
