I will be rotating my Halloween avi for a breast cancer awareness avi on a daily basis.
My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer when she was barely 42. She had a radical mastectomy on her left breast. After her chemo, she is in all clear stage, going on 12 years cancer free.
That same year, my stepmother was also diagnosed. She had radiation, did not have surgery. Sadly, this past year, it returned. She has also had a mastectomy, and is on the road to one year free again.
Please remember to do your self-exams, and when you go for your PAP, ask them to do a full breast exam as well - they are trained to find things you may have missed!!
I am currently waiting to go for my first ultrasound mammography, since I am almost 32, and they recommend testing begin 10 years after a family member's diagnosis.
