Hi there!

This may be a simple, silly question but I cannot figure this out.

I bought the Tell your story kit and there are buttons in the kit that do not have string in the holes of the button. How do you add the string/ribbon to the button?

I am trying to start participating in the challenges here and I hit this road block....

I use PSE 5.

Thanks for any advice,
Dawn

Could you just find a pre-made string element from a different kit and slap it on top of the button? That's what I do.

Or I just leave the button plain, because when I paper scrapped I often just adhered buttons to the page with sticky dots.

I'm way too lazy or/and inept to actually make something or twist and contort something to fit, so if that's what you'd like to do, hopefully someone else will chime in with some instructions. :)

I don't always thread my digi buttons, but if I want it stitched on, I'll just grab stitching from elsewhere.

Now mind you I'm a button FREAK...I loveeee(like honestly LOVE) buttons...and I leave them un-stitched if that is how they came in the kit.

You can always get another button of similar size and use your magic wand selection tool to select the thread in the threaded one and copy/paste it to the unthreaded one. Also like the other suggested just leave it unthreaded

I'd like to know how to do this too because I can't stand putting an unthreaded button on my layout, whether it's paper or digi. There must be a reason the designers give us both threaded and unthreaded buttons in a kit - is it because some scrappers prefer them unthreaded?

I just noticed that there is string to thread the buttons in this kit. UGH!! My brain is fried tonight!

Thanks so much for your responses! I appreciate it!

In my case...I just prefer them PERIOD...Have I mentioned that I'm a button FREAK...all of my designers are aware of my obsession with buttons.
LOL

I'm not sure about your question though...I know that any hybrid project I have made I haven't threaded the buttons...weird how different people think isn't it?

If your talking about "Tell Me A Story", there is a stitch in the kit.. it's a little white looking hump thing. It doesn't look like much but it's the stitching that goes from hole to hole over the center of the button.. is that what you are talking about?

ETA: I see you found it.. sorry

I rarely thread my unthreaded buttons.
But, if I feel compelled, I will find a decent line of "X" stitching, erase all but 1, and center it over the button.

Or, find a decent straight stitch, erase all but 1 thread, and double it to make an X.

Thanks for the tips - now I can use all my buttons. :)

LOL, I think it's neat to see how everyone prefers them. I don't notice either way if they have thread, or not. Doesn't make a difference to me. However, if I was paper scrapping, I would just glue those suckers on!!! Threading them is something I just wouldn't take the time to do.

Lately, I have also been experimenting with putting ribbons and bows on my buttons, so that it looks like that is holding the buttons on. I especially like using a bow, making it small enough so that it looks good, and putting it right over the holes.

hehehe...this makes me laugh! Traci did the buttons in the kit - which are way cute! But I'm the type that can't stand to add plain buttons to my LOs, so I made sure to put a scanned stitch in the kit for those of us that HAVE to thread our buttons! Hopefully everyone can be happy that way! :D
