Someone posted a link to a tutorial on reducing the file size in PS or PSE, and I bookmarked it, but since I downloaded that stupid new version of Firefox, my bookmarks haven't been saving to anywhere I can see, and I didn't realize it till I went looking for a bookmark a couple of days ago. I tried doing a search for the thread here, but I couldn't find it. :(

If anyone remembers the thread OR the link, could you hook me up?

No, I don't think that's what it was. Dang, I wish I could remember anything expect thinking, "Oh, that's so useful."

I can't find the thread now, but there was recently one that mentioned making the following change:

Edit - Preferences - File Handling
Select Never for 'Maximize PSD & PSB File Compatibility'

ahh. I have heard of this. but I think if you don't maximize compatibility you won't see PSD thumbnails in ACDSee.

I made the change recently, and I can still see my .psd thumbnails in ACDSee.

If I remember correctly, the article that was referenced said maximizing file compatibility allows users with really old versions of PS to open the .psd.

oh that is good to know. I will try then. I have some templates where I don't see the thumbnails and it's b/c of the compatibility thing. (or so I thought)

Well....now I'm gonna have to retract that statement because I just noticed I can't see my newer ones. Oops...they aren't sorted by date!
