Printing. And I don't mean the photo books, lol. Tell me about printing your individual pages.

What companies have you used, and what do you think of each of them? How much did you pay (for what size)? What did you like/dislike about it?

I just ordered 30 8x8 prints from PolkaDot Potato's Canadian sister site (Green Pixel Printing)...this will be the first time I've printed layouts in the almost 5 years I've been digi scrapping!

I'm also going to try out Fotki.com...I have an account there, and it's only 1.90 for an 8x8 print there, and shipping is SUPER cheap (for me the biggest part is the shipping, since I'm in Canada, it's usually REALLY expensive to ship from the US).

I've heard of a few other sites/services...sbtoshare.com, scrapbookpictures.com...

So, let's discuss... :)

I always use Costco.....order online, print 2 8x8s on a 12x18 sheet. Ends up being just under $1.50/page. I've never had any problem with them, and the quality is good enough for me :)

My experiences:

WHCC - great prints, superior quality, kind of expensive, shipping is included in price though, requires FTP for upload so that freaks some people (probably not you though)

Sbtoshare - I don't like their quality, I think they might do color laser print instead of a photo print but I'm not positive. They also do a white border on all prints.

Scrapbook pictures - Great quality and prices. I've been happy with them.

Mypictales - lowest prices you'll find but I don't like their quality. They do color laser print - not a photo print and you can really see the difference in the photos.

What I do most is print my own at home (Epson R800 for 8x8 Epson R1800 for 12x12) but if I were going to print on a regular basis I'd probably use Scrapbook Pictures.

I don't like sbtoshare either. It was also on cardstock (not sure if that's still all they offer) and I didn't like that much.

Scrapbook pictures is fabulous!

That's all I've tried. I think polka dot potato is the same printing as sbtoshare, but I'm not sure. so I wonder if yours will be the same as theirs.

I still have never done it. I don't feel yet like I am at that point...I have a lot of developing yet to do, and more learning before I won't despise the pages I print!!!

So I will save this thread for later :)

Does Canadian Costco not have 8x8 pages? Ours prints 8x8 or 12x12 and then you don't have to trim them. Costco is my fave printer... BEAUTIFUL prints. $1.50 per 8x8, $3 for 12x12.

MyPicTales... REALLY cheap... 50 cents for 8x8 and 75 cents for 12x12... but I was sooooo not happy with them. Grainy prints, yellow tints, dark casts, and a HORRIBLE trim job.

I was going to post about the PDP sale and their new Canadian partner site too, Bryn! I'm definitely going to order some prints from Green Pixel Printing (PDP's new Cndn partner) and see how they are. Has anyone here gotten prints from PDP before?

I was planning on trying out scrapbookpictures.com while they're having their sale too, so I probably still will and compare the two. I'm just holding off ordering from them for a couple days to see if our dollar bounces back a bit.

They might, but the first time I tried printing I did 8x10s (and trimmed the top and bottom) and I found some of my edges were getting cut off because of the error associated with the printing. So I just do it this way to avoid it, especially since I have a lot of stuff near the edges on my LOs....I don't mind the trimming.

I would LOVE to do photobooks, but it's just not possible since I scrap soooo out of order and I am way behind LOL

Cindy - that's why I like to print at home, I prefer to just print it and then trim it myself. I scrap too close to the edge a lot!

I tried printing my 12x12 at home - even bought the Epson scrapbook paper meant for printing layouts. But it just sucked up my ink - I figured it was about $6 a sheet! So I did Costco for $3 for 12x12 and $1.49 for 8x8 and loved their excellent quality. So I'll be doing that from now on.

I have had prints and enlargements done at scrapbookpictures.com and their quality is also excellent. It's just faster to do Costco.

I've always thought that it would be WAY more expensive to print at home....inkjet refills cost a fortune! Also, do the pages last? I mean, I used to print out photos to frame at home using our inkjet (HP and on proper photo paper) and noticed DEFINITE fading of the photos when I went to replace them after a few years.

I've only ever printed with Scrapbook Pictures but I absolutely LOVE their quality and I'm rather picky about these kinds of things. I never resize my pages either and I've never had anything cut off. The shipping is really fast too, it usually never takes more than a few days. I highly recommend them.

It depends on what kind of printer you use. A regular inkjet is going to fade pretty quickly. My printer has really long lasting dyes that will last as long as regular prints.

Well, so far I've only had single page prints done at 2 places. MPT and Scrapbook Pictures. I was happy with my MPT prints but never really had anything to compare it to! I just recently tried Scrapbook Pictures because they had a sale and actually got my prints in yesterday and I LOVE the results! So I have to ditto what Lynnette said:
