Chloe's school has 50's day next Monday. Really fun idea. they sent home a paper with ideas on how to dress her. Man i wish i could find her a poodle skirt! course, i really have no money to spend right now so i'll have to come up with something else. Rolled up jeans was an idea. and button up shortsleeved shirts. she has jeans but i'm not sure on the shirt. i'm thinking about going to the salvation army or goodwill to see what i can find, maybe even some saddle shoes. i have some scarves that i can tie in her hair. anyone have any more ideas? i've looked online and found mostly styles for adults. TIA

I have the cutest photo of my mom. She was a child in the 50s. She is wearing a pair of jeans rolled up, with a scarf in her hair and just a plain button up blouse. I can't tell what color because it's a B&W photo.

Cute.. is this for the '50th' day of school? I was thinkin' a white button up shirt with her jeans is 50's.. tie a scarf around her neck. Didn't they have initials on their shirts during that time too. Maybe you could 'digi' an initial for her and iron it on her shirt.

Oooh, if you're going to Goodwill...at my local Goodwill they have funky reading glasses at the register, I think they are $2? Anyway you could remove the lenses, they could just pop out I'd think...and let her wear some funky glasses (I know I've seen cat eye ones).

she's 5 and skinny lol. she can wear a 5 or 6 in jeans, depending on the brand. i don't know if it'd get here by monday though, lol. thanks though.
i was wrong on the date; its the monday the week of Halloween. so i have more time than i thought to get an outfit for her. and we get paid on the 22nd.

I think the rolled up jeans and scarfs in her hair would be too cute! And like Lena said some cat eye glasses, i know they have some here at our dollar tree for a buck. I never thought to pop the lens out and use some of those cat eye readers (thanks for the tip Lena). Maybe you could do that and then find her some saddle shoes? I know Keds makes some tennis shoes that look like saddles, they are too cute! Here (http://www.keds.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=880&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=224&iSubCat=245&iProductID=880) they are...on sale right now. I think my Emma needs some! lol

Hey Corey, I'm glad you have some more time to put together your dd's outfit. For my last birthday party, I had a 1950s theme and my dd wanted to wear a poodle skirt. We weren't able to find one so we improvized and bought some sticky-back felt (bought at WalMart for less than $1) and cut out a poodle shape (http://www.freeapplique.com/applique.data/shapes/dogpattern3.jpg) and stuck it onto one of her black skirts that she already had in her closet. Here's the link to the pics from my party (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=27945&l=b0965&id=564036154) so you can see how it looked :)

I have two also, but even with that extra time, I couldn't get it there fast enough. And one of them is tiny too :(
