OK, I am not out to blame anyone here but I need to get this off my chest!!!! We went camping over the weekend and when we got home the FIRST thing I noticed is that my McCain/Palin sigh was stolen out of my yard as well as everyone on my block......I don't care what your political views are but to do that is just RUDE and slightly childish too!!! Has this happened anywhere else??

That's absolutely rude...so much for freedom of expression, huh?
I was just listening to somebody on Fox Radio (Spencer Hughes maybe???) talking about this same topic yesterday.

That is rude and I can't believe anyone would do such a thing. I have heard of neighbors putting their candidates signs in other yards not knowing if you are supporting the same candidate which I find rude as well.

That is rude...
on the same concept..different topic when our old house was on the market, there was another homeowner/agent that used to come take all our flyers..finally caught her one day doing it! I was like all these people taking flyers and very few calls lol...duh!!! then it dawned on me when another neighbor mentioned hers all gone and no nibbles

OMG, that is really ridiculous. People anymore are really just nothing more than ANNOYING!
That is pretty crummy, and it's the only reason I don't have a sign. My McCain bumper sticker is a bit of a liability in this area. People are all died in the wool registered democrats but if you ask them about the issues they're total opposite from Obama. I've never understood why people vote straight party lines and won't take 5 minutes to look at what people stand for. Sigh. I'm surrounded by the Obama signs here LOL
I'm trying to get tickets to see Palin at Elon college Thursday. My old stomping grounds at ECU in Greenville proved to be impossible to find tickets too. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I have no idea why there are so many rude people in this world! It's not your business to touch anything on someone elses property!
Meg I can't believe that realtor did that, what brass ones!
Palin is going to be in NH on Wed and Obama is going to be 5 minutes from my house on Thursday and since I still haven't decided who I want to vote fore I'd love to go to both but can't take time off work since I'm off Friday.

Wanna know something funny? I've heard of people around here (strong Obama territory) stealing signs because they don't want to be bothered with getting one of their own. They're stealing the signs they want for themselves, not signs of the other party. Weird!
Either way, it's just RUDE to take something out of someone's yard!!!

This is happening big time in our area, both Obama and McCain signs. So much that it was the top story on the news the other night.

The worst part about it is that they totally BROKE the metal frame the sign was on too, that is clearly destruction and I am really pissed. I did not even notice that part until this morning as we were walking to the bus, my luck someone would have gotten hurt and sued me or something!!!!!

I just found a place not far from my house that I can get a new one and heard they have 6 pages of complaints of this happening just this past weekend. As I said in the first post, I does not matter what your political views are, it is just plain RUDE!!! It does not matter who's name is on the sign!!! My neighbor got a new one but he removes it every night and puts it back in the morning, I am sorry but NO ONE should have to do that!!!!

That is so rude!!!! Around here everyone hangs their signs on the inside of their front windows so that they can't be stolen. Its sad that you ahve to do that.
On a side note (still slightly related) it really frosts my cookies that I have to go outside everynight before it gets dark and bring my 2 year old's painted pumpkin inside so that the little hoodrats in our neighborhood won't steal it! I'd like to think that since it was obviously painted by a little kid that people would leave it alone but I'm not so naive. We have had Christmas decorations stolen and his little heart was broken so I am not willing to risk it with his beloved pumpkin but it sickens me that i even have to do it, KWIM?

Hey, at least you're able to put signs in your yard. Our HOA won't even let us do that. I'd like to be able to support my candidate.

Yeah...it just bugs me that they regulate things that strictly. Just go and be all reasonable, will ya! :)

there was a house damaged in hurricane Fay here in Florida and the lady had to repaint and she submitted like four colors (or more Im not sure) they were alll turned down so she had to make a choice and hadnt gotten any approved and the color she picked was nearly identical to what it was and they were making a big deal out of it. Another one was a woman was flying her flag in her her yard after her husband died and the homeowners association lost it over that and yet another when we were having a drought (sp?) they sent a letter to a guy saying if his yard was not green he would be fined or would need to replant the grass. He couldnt water because of regulations. Soooo many stupid rules and regulations. Kinda glad I do not live in a housing development although code enforcement isnt much better. My best friend was sited because she had a swingset in her frontyard...they said it would be ok if it was not secured in the ground but because it was they had to remove it or they could be fined up to 1000 dollars a day I believe!!
ETA:Sorry for the thread hi-jack LOL

Not many people put up signs in my neighborhood. I saw one in someone's yard for Obama/Biden, but it had orange spray paint circled and crossed over it - I thought someone had vandalized it, but since it's been up over a week like that and I've seen them home, I guess they did that themselves.
We don't bother with the signs at our house - I'm not really into displaying my "candidate" as I feel like it labels me. Nonethless, it's rude to steal other people's signs, regardless of the reasons - actually it could be considered trespassing and burglary if you only had a way to prove who did it.

I wish I did...some people actually called the Police but there is nothing you can do without proof so i guess I will just have to live with the spoilers and keep my bumper sticker on the INSIDE of my car. My DH wants me to get another sign but I am not sure I want to now!!!
