Hi, Natalie and Derek will be 5 this year. But they still play with Little People. Derek is really into Disney Cars. He also is drooling over the Mickey Motor Racing Speedway. (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3018523)
OH! and The Leapster. They love thier Leapsters.
My kids have liked the same stuff for a long time. They got the Leapsters 2 Christmas ago.

Oh I second the Shake and Go Speedway. My boys love that thing!

And legos. We have tons of legos. And Magnetstix- the big ones, not the ones with tiny marbles.

Mine are also into Planet Heroes (Fisher Price).

I'm at a loss for Jamin too. He'll be getting some practical things that he needed anyway; new sheets (dinosaurs), clock for his room and some clothing items. Right now I'm learning toward one of the Leapster or vtech game/computer products and some jigsaw puzzles. He's got the starter Superstructs (http://www.amazon.com/Superstructs-0403-Starter-Set/dp/B000A12YK8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1224175564&sr=8-3) pack and loves it, so we might get one of the expansion sets. However, Mya is at that phase where everything goes in her mouth, so little construction pieces might not be such a good idea. I don't know ...

I'm no help.

I'll be watching this thread with great interest! My little guy turns 3 two weeks before Christmas... and I haven't even started shopping for his bday OR Christmas. Oops. I'm such a good mommy. LOL

Last year's big gift was his Step 2 kitchen, which he loves.

My little guy just turned 4 and this year he's into Geotrax. We started him with some sets last year, so he'll be getting more of those. I'm not sure on a big gift just yet though... but it might be something combined with his older brother.

I bought one of these (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000NWU9NI/ref=nosim/coffeeresearch67976-20) last year for Carter's 3rd birthday - and man! on rainy days he still loves to play with it.
(selfishly I bought it because I wanted him to expend energy without actually riding his bike in our (at the time) super-tiny house)

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41kBON3M2ZL._SS400_.jpg

I mean - sure. I also bought him a bunch more accessories for his train table (another Thomas lover here) - but this was his :big: gift - and then a few weeks later I gave him a few more video games at christmas time.

It's currently in our garage - and I TOTALLY plan on re-introducing it when our new baby comes in 3 weeks.

Great suggestions everyone...My mom does the Geo Trax...she has a whole set and we keep it at her house so she adds to it at b-days and Christmas..I'll have to tell her about the sale at Kohls...

I had originally thought about one of the John Deere ride on like toys but with DH gone and me with a newborn at Christmas time I just don't think I'll be able to be outside with him like he'd want me to be this year.

I've gotten some good ideas from this thread :)

I just picked up a Teddy Ruxpin for my son. He's 2, so it might be a bit young for a 3-year-old, but I think that's how old I was when I had a Teddy Ruxpin. Ah, memories!

Question about GeoTrax--is there a starter set, or how does it work? Do you just buy all the compatible stuff and start from there? I'm clueless!

I'm thinking a bike from Santa, but I have no idea what we'll get him. My parents are getting him this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3103036 and I'm so excited about it!

My son has Geotrax also and absolutely loves it! Thanks for those links to the sale at Kohl's - looks like those are ones you can't find anywhere else.

We got a starter pack for our son which had remote control train with a couple cars and the tracks and a station.

Geotrax at Fisher-Price (http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=4005&e=thumbnail&from=toysbytype&pminage=36&pmaxage=96&pcat=GEO)

And the starter pack we got looks like this:

Ha ha, am I the only mom who totally regrets ever buying Geo-Trax? We have a small house and those things take up a lot of room!

Mimi, I haven't bought L.J. any Geo Trax for that reason alone...I don't want them taking up space. We have enough toys crowding the house now.

L.J. is getting the Leapster 2 with some games and my mom and dad are getting him the Clickstart computer and a little desk to put that and the TV that we will hook up to it on. Other than that, I am really at a loss for what to get him.

My boys love their Geo Trax, Planet Heros, and their Leapsters.
They are getting shake and crash stadium, a coin sorter, interactive Wall-e and Eve, and other than that I'm at a loss....I wanted to get them the Fisher Price computer thingy with the tablet but one of the boys is a lefty and the tablet doesn't move, ugh.

My daughter is a lefty too, I hope it doesn't bother her too much.

I know I should be looking this up on my own - but does the Leapster 2 play the orig. Leapster games as well?
My mom is buying my (soon to be 5) yr old son that gigantic robotic dinosaur, Spike - and while I can't compete with a dinosaur, I can however encourage him to calm his hiney down with perhaps some psuedo-learning in a video game (rather than have him try to catch stars while I play Mario Galaxy - haahah)

That's why we keep Avery's set at my parents' house lol...it's actually good b/c he only plays with it when he's there and so it's like new every time kwim lol...he has ENOUGH Thomas stuff at my house..that's the thing about this Christmas..I'm not fired up about buying him a bunch of new stuff b/c he has sooo much already...and now all the baby stuff is taking up room again...we moved last year into a bigger house and I'm already beginning to feel crowded again. I'm planning on getting rid of a lot of toys though before Santa comes.

GREAT THREAD here - I am looking for ideas for my three year old son as well.
Here is his Kaboodle list - I add to it any time I see something he might like and then I have a HUGE list to choose from when it is time to buy.
http://www.kaboodle.com/grmnvixen/dylans-list.html
He got the V-Tech V-smile last Christmas and LOVES it - he would play it EVERY day if I let him.
I plan to get the Leapster 2 and a digital camera of some sort.
Anyone have any suggestions?
My Brother already bought him a big boy bike Mongoose with training wheels about a month ago - so there goes that...lol
I would love to get him the Lightning McQueen ride-in car thing , but those are WAY too expensive.

Yes from what I understand all the games work with both versions.
