a new girly cover for my Graco Snugride Infant seat?! Do they not make such a thing..I guess it's so that when people like me have a boy and then have a girl, they want us to go out and buy a whole new infant seat?! Which I'm not going to do btw..if I can't find a girly one then we'll just stick with the boyish one lol..
Seriously though...I've found some online that are handmade but they're like 80 bucks and I'm not paying that much...might as well buy a new seat in that case kwim? I just knew though that Graco would have replacement covers but I haven't been able to find one ANYWHERE...what's the deal? Anyone ever found one?

I think it voids the warranty and safety stuff on them when you change out the seatcover. I know I was looking for a new one when Teaghan was born (Ryleigh had just used it less than 2 years ago) and the babies r us lady told me that. Not sure how true it is...
anyways I ended up ordering one online...lemme see if I can find the place

I know if you put another product on your car seat that didn't come with it voids the warranty but I'm thinking if you have a Graco car seat and you call Graco to get a different cover it should be ok because it is the same company.

That stinks, but I totally used a car seat cover I didn't love for Colton. It was ok in color but had a teddy bear on it, lol. I didn't even think about a new cover. We were soooo broke back then, I just covered what I could with his cute blankies!

Here's one on Etsy:

You buy your own fabric, ship it and she makes it for you!

If you can't get an actual Graco made one, I wouldn't do it. If you get something that doesn't belong to your seat like a homemade one, it can affect the safety of your seat. I would not personally do that.

ITA. I think using other products also voids your warranty.

Yes, after market products will void the warranty on any car seat. After market covers are simply a bad idea since the fabric is not fire retardant, something required for car seat covers. Also, may after market covers are made to fit a basic pattern, not the actual seat you may own.
Try doing an ebay for "Snugride Giselle cover" or "Snugride Jessa cover" (you can search the Graco site for other girly cover names) or call Graco to see if they'll sell you a cover separately.

Thanks everyone...I guess the warranty thing never occurred to me so I guess it makes sense...then again my carseat was Avery's and it's nearly 4 yrs old so I'm not sure the warranty would still be good anyway. But it's no huge deal I MIGHT can talk DH into buying a new seat anyway b/c we'll need one in each vehicle (I don't HAVE to tell him that you can just buy a second base right? lol) or I may just go with what I have..it's a brown/blue combo but I can just be sure and put a pink blanket on top of her lol...

I happened to come across these today when I was on Craigslist:

Sounds like she will do it by mail.

Hey Nikki,
I know this isnt LOADS of help, since your seat is out of warranty already, but when I was pregnant, I bought all the Graco stuff, Stroller, seat, etc..
When we got her stroller out of the box and all set up, we realized the sun canopy piece had a big tear in it, so we called Graco, since i ordered it, and they sent us a TOTAL replacement cover, not just the hood, so I KNOW they make GRACO covers as replacements...
Just an idea..

Thanks everyone! You know what?! I was on the phone with my sister and she and I both had a big old DUH moment...we were talking about this and how I couldn't find one and then all of a sudden we both realized that SHE has an entire snugride with a pink cover that her little girl Emily just outgrew!! We're both dummies lol...anyway, hers is sweet baby girl toile and her seat is newer too b/c Emily is only a year old...sooo problem solved and now we'll also have two bases.

That's awesome because I also think car seat "expire" now. I know we had one for DS from March of 2005 and we couldn't use it for G-man in Jan of 2008 because it had "expired". We had to buy a brand new one!!!

Car seats do expire, but the shortest expiry that I'm aware of is 5 years. Most manufacturers have 6 year expiries on their seat. Rare exceptions offer between 7 and 9 years before expiring. All dates of expiry are from date of manufacture, not date of first use.
Yes, I'm a bit of a car seat freak. I'm hoping to get into a child passenger safety tech class ASAP.
