I see so many awesome pictures in the gallery I was just curious as to what camera do you use...do you use auto or manual settings...did you take photography classes or did you just learn on your own...

I use the Canon S3 IS, but I'm gunning for an SLR. I use the partial mode and play around with some settings, but I'm definitely not one of the stellar photographers around here! Mine are good enough, and I get some good shots, but nothing like I see in the gallery. Of course, that will all change when I get a new camera... ;)

I have a Canon Xti ... I have a few lenses. I switch between manual and auto ... depending on my mood. I haven't taken any photography lessons, but I have done a lot of research on my own (photography boards, books, photographer friends).

I have a Nikon D40 and have had it for a few months but I'm just not really learning to use it. So I'm in the beginner phases. I have to use auto inside for sure, but outside I play around with different modes.

There is a great 12 week guide over at 2 peas that I have been using/learning from. It's not so much that it's overwhelming, but it's enough to be helpful. And a lot can be adapted for point and shoot cameras too!

I have a Nikon D40 and still am learning about it. I don't use auto all that often but I do use the Kids mode with my fast-moving kids because I don't have time to think through what settings to use before I get the shot. With outdoors or landscape shots, I use aperture priority mode quite a bit.

I use a Nikon D80. I usually have my 50mm lens on it and I shoot almost exclusively in manual. I'm self taught via online boards, books, and just plain old playing around :)

I'd love to have a D80, but for now I've got a Nikon Coolpix. It's great for the money, and it does take pretty nice pics. Hopefully by this time next year I'll have a better camera!

Ditto this. Except that I am using a Kodak EasyShare z612. It has been a great camera to learn on, as there are actually some manual settings on it that simulate a nicer camera. But I feel like I am starting to outgrow it, which is not a good feeling especially when you don't have any funds to replace it. I played with a Canon Xti at Target the other night, and man THAT WAS BIG MISTAKE!!! :w00t:

I shoot with a Canon 40D, mostly on Manual and about half and half RAW/JPEG format. Since, I am mostly shooting sports or the kids at school, I shoot with with a 28-250mm zoom. Although, I really want to get a 50mm, 1.4 someday.... As for classes, I took a couple of photo classes in High school and college and then took a great seminar/photo shoot class in Carmel, CA in April by Michael Seewald. I learned more in those 3 days than I did in any traditional class.

Here's a link to the instructor's website. LOL, there's a picture on the site-- I am the one in the red jacket http://www.seewald.com/carmel_california_digital_photo_classes_workshops. htm

I have a Canon Powershot A590 IS, point and shoot. I think I want a dSLR. But then I get scared by the idea of it. :o First I have to save some money though :D.

I have a Canon Rebel XT, my DH has a Canon Rebel XTi. Most, but not all of the pics in my pages were taken by him, simply because he enjoys taking pics more than me.

Both of us shoot in manual almost all the time.

I have a Canon Powershot S5 IS. I love it! My mom is getting one for my Dad for Christmas. I haven't taken super amazing pictures yet, but they are way better than they used to be, and the time I have to wait between taking pictures is SO short compared to my old point and shoot! I usually use auto mode, but I will be playing with aperture priority, and shutter speed priority soon. :)

I have a Canon Rebel XTi and really like it. But I have to admit that I really need to learn more about it. I use the auto mode way too often.

I have a Canon G9 that I love. It's point and shoot but has a lot of the manual settings that the DSLR's have too. I shoot most of the time on auto but I've been trying to fiddle more and more with the manual settings. A Canon DSLR is in my future but since it's a want and not a need it's down on the list a ways. ;)

currently the nikon D70 but just today I bought the nikon D80!! I can't wait till it gets here. I was going to upgrade to the D90 but I couldn't justify spending another $450. I'm so excited!

I use the 50mm 90% of the time and almost always manual or aperture priority :)

I have the Canon Rebel. I have just started to shoot in manual but have no clue what I am doing:D . I edit my pics with Lightroom. I have no training in photography but am hoping a class I really want to take opens up very soon.

I have a Canon Rebel XTi! I never shoot in full auto but sometimes I shoot in Program or Aperature priority modes if I am in a hurry or not completely sure about lighting situations. If I am outside I almost always just do manual.

I'm probably one of the only Rebel users without a 50mm lmao! I do have a 60mm macro that I love sooooooooooo much!

Well, since we finally rented our old townhouse, I gave dh the go ahead to order the camera that HE has really been wanting, Digital Rebel XTi! It should be here tomorrow! :w00t:

I am completely intimidated, and have no idea what lenses he got. I was just getting comfortable with our Canon PowerShot G3 when it died.

(just asked him, he got a 50mm lense with a very low aperture so we can take pictures in lower light settings.)

I have a Canon XTi and a couple of lenses (including the 50mm which I use most of the time) and I mostly shoot in Program or Aperture Priority modes but I am starting to venture into Manual. I haven't taken any paid classes, just read several great photography books and done a whole lot of reading online of tutorials and free courses and such. I edit all my photos in Lightroom which is definitely a photographer's must have!

For ages I used my Canon Powershot S2 IS which died on me a few weeks ago. I just bought a new camera - a Kodak Easy Share Z1012 IS which I'm loving so far. I really want a Canon Rebel - but I have to save enough money up first :)

I have a Nikon D80, and use a combination of manual, shutter priority & aperture priority, depends on who/what I'm shooting.

Canon Xt. love it. i have been trying to teach myself to shoot in manual more, but unless i'm outside in all that natural light, they don't turn out. and i don't even use full manual. i can't seem to get it just yet. i use the AV mode mostly. i figure i'd learn a little at a time then try to move on to full manual eventually. and i do a lot of editing. i don't think i ever use pictures SOC (is that the right abreviation? straight off camera? lol)

i mostly use my 50mm lens but i also have an 28-90mm that i use when i need to zoom and its got a wider shot than the 50mm too. i guess it similar to the 18-55 kit lens. idk, i got both lenses cheap, lol. they're not real fancy, but they get the job done! i paid $75 for the 50mm and $108 for the other one.

i have a canon 40D that i LOVE! i shoot on manual 99% of the time. as for school i have taken a lot of classes, a lot of self taught stuff too, and right now i am attending some of the KPPA seminars. a lot of photography is training your eye to see differently and then just taking LOTS AND LOTS of photos for practice. when i started i was using film and wow the expense makes me sick thinking of it. i am SOOO glad to have digital now :)

I have an Olympus C-5000. It's about 4.5 years old now. It's decent enough. I edit my photos mostly in PSP because that is what I am used to though I have Lightroom and do use it as well. Depends on whether I am scrapping the photo or just fixing it.

I've been saving up for a D40 for a few months & am going to get it next month. I'm waiting on the Black Friday sales. if the priceis right I may get a D60.
