I'm thinking of getting myself an inspiration book or two for Christmas. What are your favourite idea books? Either digi or traditional (I get lots of ideas out of traditoinal books too..). I like idea books generally better than magazines, but if you love a certain magazine (physical - not a pdf) tell me why!
Thanks!

I just started getting CK, and I looooooooooove it. I called CK and canceled my DSM subscription and they offered to put my remaining year into CK and I said okay. Becky Higgins is awesome, love her sketches. I don't know about any actual books though, sorry.

I have Scrapbooking Friends and Family (http://www.amazon.com/Leisure-Arts-Scrapbooking-Friends-And-Family/dp/1574864246), 501 Great Scrapbooking Page Ideas (http://www.amazon.com/501-Great-Scrapbook-Page-Ideas/dp/1892127520), The Amazing page (http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Page-Scrapbook-Techniques-Memory/dp/1892127911) and Award Winning Scrapbook Pages (http://www.amazon.com/Award-Winning-Scrapbook-Pages-Creating-Keepsakes/dp/1574864238) . I think they are mostly paper scrapping but you can take those and translate them to digi in alot of cases. I havent looked through them in awhile but I will look through them periodically if I have a long scrapblock

Also you can buy alot of these books used on half.com and amazon.com and they are way cheaper then new but still seem like brand new sometimes better then what you get in the craft store because a million people have already looked through those books on the shelf and put them back without buying them.

I love my subscription to Creating Keepsakes. Lizzy, I have a big accordian album like that, that I put all my favorites clippings in. I was actually planning on going in there tonight and pulling a random page out for some on the spot inspiration :)
I love all of Ali Edwards books. I have Designers Eye for patterned paper, Life Artist (a fave, I absolutely adore it), and I plan on getting her newest "Sharing Your Story" (mini-albums) ASAP.
I also love Stacy Julien, (Big Picture Scrapbooking, and Photo Freedom) for when I get a little overwhelmed.

It really depends what you are looking for. Since I don't have kids, I tend to look at the technique books more than subject-type books. The books I turn to again and again in my collection are "52 Scrapbooking Challenges" by Elsie (they show creative techniques and ideas but you can translate some of them into digi), "Scraptastic!" (though this is definitely more for paper or hybrid), "We Dare You" (the original Effer Darers did this book - they were the ones who inspired the Digi-Darers), and "A Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking" by Ali Edwards (great overall guide to design). While I love Becky Higgin's sketches (I have several of her books), I tend to only use them when I'm paper scrapping. I also like the Autumn Leaves' "Designing With" books (Words, Type, Color, Paper, Recipe, Digital), but some have ended up lost for some reason... :(
The next books I want to get are "Life Artist" by Ali Edwards (I think it's the only book of hers I don't have), and "Scrapbook Page Maps" by Becky Fleck (love the little cheat sheet cards in it - I was totally impressed).

I really love Ali's books especially the Designer's Eye for Patterned Paper one and Life Artist. I like her new mini-album one too although I will warn you that it doesn't have as many Ali projects as I would have liked. I didn't really find too many of the projects by the other artists all that inspiring. If you're into mini-albums I really recommend Simple Scrapbook's Mini-Albums in an Evening. I found tons of inspiration in that issue.
I'm not a huge fan of the Autumn's Leaves books but I think it just depends what you're looking for. I prefer to learn more of the backstory/reasoning behind what people do and the AL books don't have that so I didn't find them all that useful. If I just want pretty pages to look at, I can browse the galleries for free.

great thought, I wonder if they ship to Canada though... Amazon doesn't always ship used stuff here. :(

I have bought a few books, but I find that they are pretty basic and not worth the money you would pay for them. I love CK and Simple Scrapbooks. I still get DSM, because I like the fact that i can get an online version that links up to credits, advertisements etc.
I also have both of Becky Higgins' sketch books, which I love! Since I use photoshop, I'll browse through the photoshop magazines in the bookstore for some ideas.
I go through my magazines and tear out the pages that inspire me, then I use a three hole punch and put them in to a binder. Then I can get rid of the magazine so it doesn't clutter things up too much.

Have you ever seen the Scrapbook Trends magazine? It might be worth a look. They also do Card Trends and Paper Trends both of which I subscribe to as they are much more than a magazine - more like idea books with a ton of eye candy. They also do idea books such as mini books, embellish etc. I don't subscribe to Scrapbook Trends, I just buy it when I have some spare pennies. Also BHG Scrapbook Etc. I get that too :)

I get CK, Simple Scrapbooks, Memory Makers and BH&G Scrapbooks Etc. I used to get Scrapbook Trends which was always my favorite but it's very pricey now so SB Etc is now my favorite subscription.
I also love Becky Flecks Page Maps book just got it.

I get CK, Simple Scrapbooks, Memory Makers and BH&G Scrapbooks Etc.
I get all of these as well. I also get paper crafts, I find lots of inspiration there. I also second that the Simple Scrapbooks Mini Album in an Evening..that helped me do a Disney album and so much more. As for books I don't really have any that I love, so I am watching this thread too...
BTW...I know that Scrapbook Trends was supposed to do a Go Digital! book. Has anyone seen it yet? I haven't gotten it and I was supposed to get it b/c I have a layout in it. I can't find when it is supposed to come out anywhere.
