I'm curious about what temperature everyone keeps their house at (while they are home). Do you change it when you leave?
Ours is at 73 degrees. I'm not sure if that is high or low.

Ours is set at 70. It comes on around 430 in the afternoon so that when we get home from work it's mostly warm. It goes off around 11 for the night, and comes on again around 530. Then goes off around 7 again for the rest of the day.
This is a good middle of teh road temperature for us. Jordan is mostly comfortable, but sometimes get hot at that temp. I'm usually cold and spend the winter months in sweats and under blankets. But I don't mind, I like bundling up :)

I like it to be around 68 in the winter and around 78 in the summer. actually in the winter when the kids are at school and my hubby is gone I turn the heat off completely.

Right this minute it's at a "high" of 69,lol. It's usually closer to 67 or 68.

We keep ours about 71F. I think it depends on a number of factors whether that's high or low. If you have electric it's not too bad, but if you have oil heat, you're going to be hurting. We don't change ours by more than 2 degrees unless I've got a lot of cooking going on or we go on vacation.

Ours is on a timer to be 70 throughout most of the day, 68 while we're asleep, and then it warms up to 72 in the early morning.

Ours is usually set at 65 during the winter as we're usually home most of the time. In the summer..it's usually about 79-80. We do it for cost savings more than any 'green' issues. If we're gone extended periods, we do change it to reflect that.

We don't run our heat. A) it only gets Really cold here a couple months out of the year and B) we live on the top floor so the downstairs home heats us in the winter
In the summer though we have to run out AC more to make up or them heating us

We keep ours at 68 downstairs and 66 upstairs. I have to wear slippers/socks and sometimes layers. Our house is newly built, but the wind is so fierce here it feels colder.

Too cold. :p
The thermostat is an old jankety one that the apt complex installed that doesn't even have real numbers on it, so I have no idea. It's also shoved into a corner right next to a bookcase, so there's not enough light to see, either. FI says it's 'around' 70, but I am always so so so cold in there that I know 'around' must mean 65. If I had my way, it would be at least 72.
A ton of cold air comes in from the windows & the sliding glass door in the bedroom, but after enough whining from me, FI promised we'd put up plastic in the bedrooms to keep it from being so cold in the mornings. It's hard to even get out of bed to go to work.

We keep ours at 70. I don't like to feel cold at all. Sometimes I'll try 68 or 69 but if I get cold, I move it back to 70!

my varies from 70 to 74. usually in the morning i'll turn it up cause i'm cold. then i'll turn it down. doesnt' take long to warm up, we have a small 1100 square foot house, lol. but i like to bundle up so i don't mind it down at night. i get very hot. My DH is like my own personal heater. his body heat is very warm.

Usually 72 - 74-ish, but warmer in the summer. We're all really cold-natured.

Here in Connecticut it is down right frigid. It was 25 degrees today. I have my heat set at 64 during the day when I am alone. I turn it up to 68 when the kids get home and then back down to 64 when they go to bed. That used to be a chore, but I would go broke if it ran all day. So last Christmas my dad bought me a digital thermostat, which is what I asked for. It is so fantastic that it does it all by itself.

We have our heat set to 70°. IMO, that's simply cold. I shiver all the time, my feet and hands turn into icicles and my nose is always cold. DH claims it's hot at that temp and wants to lower it to 65°.
I spend most of my time in the basement. I keep it warmer than the rest of the house with a portable ceramic heater.

in the winter we keep it at 72. we do not do the on off thing. it uses more energy to actually cool it off, warm it up, cool it off...etc.

Ours is programed to go from 68 to 70. But our family room (that we spend the most time in) is always cold! But I refuse to turn up the heat, so I spend most of the winter with a cold nose and a hot drink in my hand.

I think 72. Our thermostat, however, is on the top level, so the downstairs is freezing in the winter and hot in the summer. Jeff always thinks it's hot in the house and I am always freezing. :D

Ours is at 68 during the day and I bump it down to 66 at night. This run down old apartment is so drafty and leaks all our warm air out, so I don't bother trying to keep it warm. We have to bundle up around here. Good thing I like quilting so much. :)

I am so using this thread for permission to turn mine up. :D My DH has ours set at 68 but on cold days like today it's just not warm enough. I prefer it to be more like 70-72. I'm here during the day so we don't turn it off and on but we do have it set to go as low as 60 at night which helps with our bill.

We keep ours between 73-75 in the summer (I try to hold out and not let the A/C run until 76 or higher, but I melt)...in the winter, we keep the stat at about 68 or 69 if we have the "heat" on at all, otherwise we just leave it off. It can get as low as about 60 at night on a cold night.

I would freeze to death in 66 degrees, lol. I didn't realize how atypical 73 degrees was!!! I'm very willing to pay extra money for temperature comfort. The weird thing about our house is that the upstairs is cooler than the downstairs (main floor). Normally warm air rises. So strange!
We turn our heating system off in the summer and during the winter it's normally at 73 (ranging from 71-74 at various times).

It's 72 during the day since we homeschool and the kids sit in a chair all day long (we'd get cold for not moving around)...it goes down to 69 at night...anything colder and the kids seem to wake up which means mom gets woke up... lol
we keep ours at 65-66 year round. it's in the 30's here now and we've had flurries off and one all day... but the thermostat is still at 65. :p

LOL, we don't keep it low to save money, it's just comfortable for us -- obviously since that's our yearound thermostat setting and it's NOT cheap to keep the a/c that low in the summer. :D
my parents keep theirs at around 73-75 and I seriously end up sweating if I dare to wear long sleeves there in the winter.

Depends on the type of heating you have Fizz. We experimented with ours. 2 months of off and then on and then off, and then 2 months of straight on. Zippy difference in our heating bill. We're all electric and have a heat pump and it's super efficient.

lol Linz, I didn't even think about AC ... we do have our moments of heat in Seattle, but it's nothing that a fan or a room AC unit can't control (for the most part). I bet it would be pretty expensive to run AC all of the time! I hope I didn't insult/offend anyone by saying that I'm willing to pay more for temperature comfort (I just meant it's a priority for me to have a warm house since I'm so sensitive to temperature and am always cold). I know a lot of people do try to conserve money by adjusting their thermostat, but lots of people just like a cooler climate. I remember when I lived with a bunch a girls, we kept our house really cool so we wouldn't have astronomical bills. My ILs keep their house at 65 and I freeze when I stay there. They bought me a space heater for our room. They have separate thermostats on each floor, but the one in the room we stay in is directly below their bedroom and is controlled by the same unit :(

In the winter we keep the house around 70, unless we have the wood stove going. In the summer its around 77-79 depending on the humidity.
If we are going to be gone for more than day or so in the winter we drop it to 65 and in the summer raise it to 81

We keep ours at 68 in the winter and it's always cold so we bundle up. In the summer, we keep it at 76 during the day and 73 at night (I need it cool to sleep!).

I haven't read all the posts so I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I think different types of heaters 'run' differently, even though in theory they shouldn't. My parents live in a house with a furnace, and 68 is nice and toasty there. Our home has a heat pump, and 70-72 seems to be a minimum temp for comfort. (I like it on 72, 74 at night 'cause the kids' rooms get very cold. DH would probably keep it on 70-72.) I've seen the same thing in other heat pump vs furnace houses, too. In the summer we probably keep it at 78, sometimes as low as 76.

We keep ours set to 65 in the winter....yeah, it thrills me- FREEZING in our house! But, we spend most of our time at work, then at home I'm either in my office with a space heater, sleeping in my warm bed or snuggled under blankets watching TV in the living room. :)

Upstairs is set to 77 cool - 69 heat for L.J.
Downstairs living area - 79 cool - 66 heat
Our bedroom downstairs - 79 cool during the day, bump to 75 at night if hot - no heat at all
Remember I live in Florida. :)

We keep it at 65-67.
It's always cold...but not freezing...My kids bundle under blankets(the big boys). Landen wears layers. My husband complains and runs a space heater right next to the computer desk. Too much $$ around here to keep it any higher.

62 at night and when we are at work, otherwise 68 - We are in Canada so it does get cold here, but 68 is plenty warm for us!
