Ok, I caved and got Photoshop Elements 7 with the $30 off coupon at Costco - couldn't pass that deal up!!
Anyway....should I uninstall Elements 3 before installing 7 or do I need not worry about it? What about the actions I have installed in 3 (only a few). Will they disappear and I'll have to reinstall or what?

I've found that it's usually best to uninstall previous versions before installing new ones. And yes, you'll have to reinstall actions. :)
Congrats! I hope you love it!

I have only used PSE 4 and PSE 5. Both were loaded on the same computer. They recommend not having both programs open at the same time. Any actions you installed in PSE 3 will need to be manually installed into PSE 7 and I'm sure the file path will be different (seems like it has been a different file path for each new version that has come out). If you don't have your actions saved in a separate folder from the PSE 3 folder you will want to do that. You should always save your add-on actions, styles, brushes etc. in folder of their own and copy them into PSE. That way you'll always have a backup copy in the event you ever need to reinstall you editing program.
