Any recommendations? My almost 4 year old is wearing holes in the knees of his pants in record time. At this rate, his Christmas presents will be boxes of pants. :)

i don't know, but do you live near a sears? we don't now but when we did they had a kids club that let you get a new pair at a reduced price or something if they wore out. i don't remember the particulars of it but maybe someone else here does.

Yep Sears.... keep your recipe and they replace them for FREE (or at least they use too!!)

Sears' policy is that if they wear them out before they outgrow them, they will replace them for free. Goes for all their kids stuff, I believe. Even shoes.

I'll have to remember that (about Sears), I bought 6 pairs of pants at the end of August, they ALL have patches as of today.

Have you tried just putting iron on patches on the inside of the knee before he wears them? When my son was that age I bought healthtex pants. I think that is what they were called. They had built in knee patches so the knees last longer. My son never busted through those pants.

Good idea - I might try that. For awhile he was having issues with seems or bulkiness of any kind in his clothing, so we had to avoid things like cargo pants, those pants that zip off and become shorts, or anything that might be remotely 'itchy'; even hoodies because he doesn't like the bulk of fabric behind his neck. He seems to be getting better about it though, so I might be able to get away with patches on the inside.

Thanks for the tip!

we just put patches on a ton of masons pants. i did it myself with some cute tan, black and brown gingham fabric and some stitch witchery! they look like they were bought like that and it cost me $4!

you totally could but it took me about 4 mins to warm up the iron, cut the fabric and attach the patches. :)

LOL, but buying for my son includes the following 'rules'

- no hoods
- no extraneous seems, zippers or pockets (this rules our nearly everything  )
- no buttons except a single one at the top of the fly
- nothing that comes close to brushing the neck; no turtlenecks, fold-down collars, etc.

I gave up on 'cute' a long time ago.

My youngest is the same way. Some of his rules are:

1.must have an elastic waist
2.if it doesnt have an elastic waist then none of those adjuster things on the inside
3.no tags on the shirts
4.his socks cant be too low or too high (meaning only ankle socks, nothing else)
5.He cannot wear short sleeves under a jacket or sweatshirt because then it wrinkles the shirt underneath
6.He wears his socks inside out so the seam does not touch his toes and even then he has to arrange them for an hour it seems

Needless to say he is super picky when it comes to clothes. We bought him there jogging pants for school this year. They had pants and shorts that came together actually. Same fabric and same brand and same size...everythings the same but he says he cannot wear the shorts because they are itchy LOL

My 14 year old used to be the EXACT same way...so picky...He still is but he will make the sacrifice for style...I hope that Landen doesn't start making me crazy with his exceptionalness.

This was soooo my son when he was younger. He will be 10 next month and can FINALLY wear jeans without a problem!!! Tags are still an issue, but TG almost every brand is tagless these days. When he was younger, he lived in Gap sweats. They were double layered in the knees. I just checked the website and it looks like they don't make them anymore. But maybe they are still as strong? Good luck, Misty.

Haha! No say in the style, etc. Just that all the itchies and other scratchies make for a grouchy kid. DS1 was totally this way, DS2 could care less.

I have 3 boys...Sears is where I bought mine while they were going through the knees...just kept my receipts in a plastic envelope in the glove compartment...handed them the plastic envelope and they picked out which receipt they thought it went with...gave me a new pair with no problems!

Mine wear whatever I buy em LOL!

There is a store here in Canada, called Please Mum. You can order their clothes online. They have little boy pants, with double knees in them. I used to get them for Benjamin, we passed them on to our nephew, and when we got them back, they still weren't ripped. I haven't bought any in a couple of years, but the quality used to be unbelievable.

I've had the best luck with Old Navy jeans. My son was putting holes in any others within a week last year. and once a hole started he couldn't keep his little fingers out of it so he had a bunch of stylish ripped jeans by the end of the year

same for me. I am the same as my son with t-shirt tags. They actually cause bad rashes on my neck so I cut them out Haha! No say in the style, etc. Just that all the itchies and other scratchies make for a grouchy kid. DS1 was totally this way, DS2 could care less.

I have struggled with this exact problem. My son wears out the knees, but won't wear pants that are make of anything except sweatpant material! This year I discovered these at Hanes:

http://www.hanes.com/Hanes/Products/Kids-Hanes/Kids_Boys-Hanes/Kids_Boys_boysbottoms-Hanes/WD332.aspx

They are the soft cotton sweatpant material, reinforced at the knees, elastic waist and cheap! What more could you ask?

I love going to their store too, it's 3 hours from me, so when I go into the City, it's always on my "go to" store list.

They are out online in small sizes. I can't testify to the durablity but the pull on factor makes my life so much easier. I used a code to get $10 off $30 today- FREE10

Misty, not sure of durable pants for your son, but I wanted to share with you that our nearby Walmart had a special with $4.00 Wrangler jeans for boys....I "think" it was supposed to be for Black Friday (and possibly Saturday) but I was there yesterday and the sale was still on....

My guys' pants all come from Naartjie (http://www.naartjie.com/kidboyland.aspx?CategoryID=104)... most of their pants already have knee patches on them, perfect for my screwball toddler.

Lizzy can back me up on the energy of my eldest.
