I know some of us love the movie, and others not so much, but with my wedding anniversary tomorrow I wanted to share with you how much this silly movie means to me :)
It is why I am married to David, and therefore the reason that Naomi and Parker exist :)
3 years ago last October, I was sitting home alone one Saturday night. I was a senior in college, and dealing with being divorced after being married for 5 years to a man I was barely over. The hard part of the divorce was what to do with myself when Nathan went to his dad for weekend visitation. I had already been through the phase where I partied on those weekends. I had been through the phase where I moped on those weekends...and I finally just "was".
I determined that Nathan's rabbit Miss Trixie Boo was out of food, so I went to Wal-Mart to get bunny food :) I ran into an old friend of mine, David. Funny enough since Wal-Mart was the only place to shop in that town, I had regularly been running into my friend David a lot over the last 6 months! He was getting off work and so he walked me through the store as I grabbed the few things I needed.
As we went to the checkout, I saw a gigantic Hershey bar and said, "Look at that candy bar! It's ginormous!"
David laughed at me like I was the funniest thing on the planet and I said, "What? Haven't you seen Elf? He says that in Elf!" David told me he hadn't seen it, so I asked if he wanted to come back to my place and watch it.
He just never left
That was in October. We were engaged on Thanksgiving. Tried to plan a Christmas eve wedding but got impatient and were married at the courthouse on the 14th :) My life would be less full without him in it, and the beautiful children he gave me!
