I'm such a colossal idiot. I'm usually pretty good about backing up my files, but I hadn't done so in a while, and of course a stupid virus had to attack my computer and destroy EVERYTHING. I sat here and cried last night after we got the computer back from the repair dude. I lost all of my recent SSD purchases and that's what breaks my heart the most since because of the changes in the store, I can't get 'em back without re-purchasing. Isn't that sad, that I felt worse about losing my scrapkits than losing the photos of my kids? lol But honestly, I still have most of my favorite photos on the memory card, so I didn't feel the loss as much with those.
Anyway, I seriously need to find a reliable online back-up company. I was thinking of going with Carbonite since I've heard good things, but wondered what the rest of you use? I just don't trust EHDs and I worry about the long-term shape of saving on CDs, so I think an online company would suit me best. Any suggestions?

I use Mozy too. I was backing up from my EHD until my little one dropped it and broke it. Now I back up once a month to DVD and my HD on my laptop to Mozy every week.

I am so sorry. The thought of losing my pics and scrapbooking files makes me physically ill. I use Carbonite, but haven't had the 'opportunity' to see how it works when you really need it! Does anyone know if Mozy can be set up to back up your EHDs too? Carbonite doesn't.

How horrible!
We have a network HD that backs up all three computers, plus everything that is on my computer is also on my DH's computer. He also backs up to archival safe DVDs once a month. On top of that everything of mine is backed up on a portable hard drive too.

SOOOOO sorry this happened to you -- I know how painful it is.
I have Mozy, and I have used it to recover an EHD that failed.

I just got a second EHD for Christmas so I can back everything up on that and I think I am going to get Mozy, too. Need to check it out.

I have 2 EHD's plus my laptop HD, a computer at work, and I burn DVD's occasionally as well. I'm tempted to get Mozy, but we'll see.

That happened to me this month too... luckily I have been able to recover most of it with $60 software (Recover My Files)... but the files have been renamed, duplicated, etc. It's a mess. I FINALLY have it narrowed down to 400GB (the duplicates and corrupt files made it show that I had 100,000 GB off a 250GB EHD). Now I'm running ACDSee to find duplicates (6200 sets found so far-eek!)
Anyway, once I get this all sorted out, I'm going to get a second EHD (one to hold all my scrap stuff and photos and one to backup too) OR trying Mozy.
Hugs! Been there and know the devastation! :(
