I've got a bunch of the Photoblast (http://www.ezactions.com/) actions and really like them, and all of John's actions are self-installing which is awesome!

Also try these:
CoffeeShop Free Actions (http://www.coffeeteaphotography.blogspot.com/) (she has versions for PSE and PS)
JennH's free b/w conversion action (http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2718126) (the PSE version is a couple of posts down)

The Photoblast actions are awesome! The overexposed and underexposed actions have saved more than a few of my photos.

Can anyone point me to how to make an action in PSE? For work I have to tweak over 1000 photos - ugh! Or more specifically, I can't find where to open the Window for Actions in PSE 6. I have instructions for the rest of it. Stupid question, I know!

Mary - as far as I know, I don't think you can make actions in PSE - you need the full program - PS - to make them. Could be wrong, tho. www.elementsvillage.com (http://www.elementsvillage.com) is a great site with more answers.

As far as the window for actions - um - if my little brain is understanding here? the actions are in the Effects palette - Photo Effects subfolder. So the window would be opened when you click on the third button from the left, or the one that looks like a screen, in the Effects palette in PSE. And that sounds really confusing now that I've read it! :p

The tweaking 1000 photos sounds custom-made for Adobe Lightroom. Seriously.

Tina -- here is a site that will help you load your actions (those are the ATN files) thedailydigi.com (http://thedailydigi.com/lights-cameraactions/)

Lizzy -

I second the B's Vanilla II and CoffeeShop free actions - CoffeeShop as a great skin softener that works great in PSE.

I'm torn between buying more actions or saving for Adobe Lightroom!

Nettie - thanks for the info. I have the full version of PS I could load but my disk drive isn't working so I was hoping to get away with doing it with PSE. I will check out Adobe Lightroom!

Ladies..thank you so much. As I read this thread I also visited the sites mentioned. After visiting Coffeeshop I finally understand actions. I also had trouble loading actions and using them. Not anymore. I've been practicing here at work...shhhh don't tell.....

i swear by that B's vanilla action. that's what i use for all my b&w photos. so when someone comments on my nice b&w conversions, its not really me, it's an action, lol.

Lizzy, I use this one on PSE4. You can do a bunch of different stuff. It is pretty easy. And it is free. Try it!!!
