died last week. I just found out this morning because my mom reads the online obituaries on our newspaper's website, even though she now lives 1000 miles away. He was such a huge part of my life during my high school/college years, and now he's just gone. I don't know how he died, but the funeral is on Tuesday and I think I'll go.

When we were dating he gave me his childhood stuffed animal (like his comfort item from when he was a baby/toddler) and I've kept it all these years. I just took it out of my storage trunk and I think I'll bring it to the funeral and give it to his mom. Is that corny? I just think she might want to have it back. I'm sure she has very fond memories of it. She and I were very, very close, so it'll be good to see her, even under these circumstances.

It's just so depressing.

I think bringing his childhood lovey is a sweet and kind gesture, and if I were in his mother's position, I'd truly appreciate it.

I don't think it's corny at all, I think she'll be so appreciative that you thought to do that. I'm so sorry for your loss. Even if you aren't together anymore, or not in contact, he was still an important part of your life. ((hugs))

Thanks, girls. I will take the little lamb to his mother. I was just worried she might break down, but her child died, so she'll probably break down anyway.

I'm just sad today. He was such a huge part of my life during a very formative time.

I had the same thing happen to me- my first true love and even though I had broken up with him years before, it still hurt.

I think his mom would appreciate that you thought enough of him to keep it over the years and give it to her.

So sorry for you... :(

I with the rest of the girls, and think that giving his mother his lamb would be such a sweet gesture. Like you said, she must have some special memories of that stuffed animal. I think it would really mean alot to her, it would to me.

When I was pregnant with our youngest (almost 4yrs ago), I experienced the same thing you are. I was and still am devestated. We met when I was 10 and were close all the way up until after high school. The worst part is that I haven't been able to bring myself to call or go to his mother. I am so ashamed to admit that. That is on my list of things to do this year. Anyway...I know what you are going through and I'm send {{hugs}}. I'm so sorry. I hope that you are able to find out what happend.
