Anyone have some grade 1 worksheets that I can print off for Mason? Or suggestion of sites I can go to get some?

He decided he was going to LIE to me and tell me he's SOO sick, so I let him stay home, and then like 2 minutes before the bus comes he admitted that he was lying and that he just didn't want to go to school.

I've taken away video games and TV for the day (but his sister can do both)...I sent him to bed (because he's SOOO sick, he must need a nap) for a bit, but I need to make him understand that staying home isn't going to be fun.

Help?

we do the Learn To Read books (both online (http://www.starfall.com/n/level-a/learn-toead/load.htm?f) and printed (http://www.starfall.com/n/N-info/onlinebooks.htm?n=downloadcenter) from the school), and the reading and writing journals (http://www.starfall.com/n/N-info/level-1.htm?n=downloadcenter)

bratty gave you a good one :)

Any chance you can get him dressed and take him to school anyway?

that is a good idea Darcy. Walking in late might embarrass him enough to detour him doing it again later on.

Unfortunately no...and he knows it. I don't have my license or a vehicle here (we only have one van and DH has it at work)...the school is in the next town over.

I printed out like 30 worksheets and he's made his way through almost all of them so far, lmao. And he's ENJOYING it (except the math ones, which he barely even tries...even though I talked to his teacher this morning and they know how to add and subtract, he's looking at it and guessing... 2+7=27, 3+6=6 etc).

I have to give it to you homeschooling moms though...I can't do it!! I've got him in a desk right behind me and my patience has worn right thin, lol. I had to send him to play with toys for a while because I can't concentrate myself, lol!

well even homeschoolers don't do school ALL day! My homeschooling friends do 2-3 hours a day, tops. And not even every day of the week.*LOL* you have loads of patience to make it this far!

Good for you on showing him he needs to "work" if he stays home! Sorry I missed your post when you originally posted it.

I have a 7th grader and a 9th grader...it takes us 6 hours to go through school...the boys think it is way too much...but they are slow workers and are ADHD so they tend to get distracted at the littlest thing. Thankfully we have a computer based curriculum so it appeals to them more than just bookwork. Helps with my sanity too! lol ...but on the other hand...no nightly homework!

My 9th grader claimed to be "SICK" on Tuesday...I think he just got up on the wrong side of the bed (big time!)...so he went back to bed for a bit...and then I announced that he will have a "substitute teacher" on **SUNDAY** since he wasn't able to attend school that day. His sub teacher is his dad...he'd much rather have me as teacher...so thinking next week we won't have any sick days. lol
